Hi, how did seminarians study the Bible before Vatican II? Did they all use Cornelius a Lapide’s commentaries or St. Thomas Aquinas’ Catena Aurea? How do seminarians in FSSP study the Bible?

I am curious about the traditional, orthodox, Catholic way of Biblical exegesis as there is so much garbage over textual criticism which is either too specialized or unorthodox.

Thank you.

I think that they used both, but I don’t know. Good Traditional groups still study the Bible as it was studied pre-Vatican II
