Big God & Little gods...Daniel 10

Yesterday, I got into a conversation with my mother’s JW boyfriend about the Trinity. Actually, I just wanted to know if John 20:28 was the same in his NWTranslation as in my NASB, NIV, …and others.

Well, that conversation got heated. I didn’t want anything but that verse. Then…my brother jumped in to tell me about the “Big God and Little gods…” in the Bible. Specifically, Daniel 10…the description in verse 5 has to do with a “little god” and I think something about Psalm 82. The conversation blew my mind. I had no response.
sons of man…Enauch raptured up…little gods creating Rome and pyraminds…things that I have NEVER EVER heard. I decided to look online for a man he always talks about…Kenneth Copeland. I thought my brother was a non-denominational Christian, but he also has (says he studies) the Book of Mormon, he gave me the NWT, and talks about the mythological creatures were real and that’s the reason we had the Great Flood.

What I need to know is where do I go with all this jumbled information? I’m still trying to learn the enourmous amount of information about the Catholic church that I need to know. Should I try to have a dialouge with him about this or leave it and learn my faith better? I just didn’t understand where he was coming from.

Run? Learn what he’s trying to talk about?

I’d appreciate any helpful advice!

It sounds very wacky to me. Introducing any kind of “little god” is going to be a tough sell considering the Jews were supposed to be strict monotheists but had tendencies for idols.

As for Ps 82 it is talking about Jewish officials whom God gave positions as judges of His people, yet they abused their high offices and became corrupt. The reference to “gods” in that passages is purely and clearly figurative.
