I have always liked Billy Graham and have been watching Graham Crusades on television for years and I have several audio books of Graham books.

I watch Kenneth Copeland from time to time. I do not like Oral Roberts that much but I have a video tape showing the various evangelistic meetings that Roberts has conducted over the years and I have several cassette tapes of messages by Roberts and Roberts son and daughter in law that I have received free over the years from Oral Roberts Ministries.

I watch Robert Schuller from time to time and I have about 21 Christmas tree ornaments that I have received from Schuller’s organization in California.

I really do not like Jimmy Swaggart that much but I receive for free the magazine from Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.

I do not really care for Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, but I watch them from time to time.

I also watch Benny Hinn from time to time.

I used to watch Frederick K.C. Price from California when Price was on the cable television.

I used to watch the Protestant evangelazing channel back when it was the only channel my TV would receive.

However, I did watch it about a month ago, when I was flipping through channels. I saw this one televangelist trying to actually SELL a small bottle of holy water, saying that it was the best way to communicate with God and to receive his blessings.

Something seemed extremely wrong there…Since when is holy water SOLD!!! Something isn’t right with that…

I saw one the other night one was trying to send you a bottle of MRACLE SPRING WATER for a small donation. I thought to myself, this is no mracle water. How can these protestants criticize catholics for the miracle spring at lourdes saying its a fake and at the same time try to practically sell miracle spring water. I wonder where this spring water actually came from? The faucet?

A couple of summers ago my daughter and I drove halfway across the country to visit my brother, aunts and cousin. We listened to Catholic Radio when it was available and went through John Matinoni’s Tapes several times. But there were times when we had no Catholic radio and we needed a change from the tapes (which we went through multiple times, she was cute she’s was right there defending the church with him by the second time through listening to them, and she was 11 at the time). So, I’d find a local Protestant station and we’d listen for a while, to see how they were interpreting scripture.

I heard some very interesting talks. One that really struck me as funny was a very dynamic speaker talking about a scripture passage from OT regarding the woman who was so distraught at not having a child that she went to the temple and was bawling as she prayed, begging god for a child. The temple priest came in (a less than holy example of a servant of God) and he chastised her greatly for coming into the temple drunk (he misinterpreted her state of mind). She maintained her dignity and her respect for him as a Priest and charitably corrected him. He in turn blessed her and told her that she would bare a child with in a year. This came to pass. (Was this Ruth? I don’t recall.)

As this preacher finished with sharing the scripture passage, the moral he took from it was that we are not to leave a congregation simply because the preacher makes an error, or even if he appears to be completely off base. God has a way of working even through bad preachers.

I sat there saying to the radio (as if he could hear my protests) “Yeah, don’t you understand the implications of your sermon!! You should be Catholic!” A large part of the reason Protestantism exists is because there were some who rebelled against those in the Catholic Hierarchy who were not living according to the teachings of the Gospel. This in turn left individuals such as Martin Luther and John Calvin less than adequately catechised so they rebelled when what they thought the Church taught didn’t ring true.

Had they merely overlooked the faults of the human beings with whom they were associated, and respectfully corrected misperceptions and asked for clarification and blessing as appropriate!

I occationally watch the local Protestant show on Sunday mornings, and I continue to feel that if they understood fully the implications of their preachings, they would all come home to the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

It’s Hannah. The child is Samuel. The first Book of Samuel.

WHO CARES WHAT YOU WATCH??? ANYWAY U OUTA WATCH CATHOLIC PROGRAMS LIKE EWTN AND LISTEN TO CATHOLIC RQDIO—DONT WATCH THOSE HERETICAL PROTESTANTS

Sounds like you’re a bit fixated on the ‘beg-fest’ hour? All that yelling and screaming and contridicting ill thought out theology in the protestant theatre stage show called ‘Evangelization’ turned me off them and back towards Jesus and His Catholic Church.

Watch EWTN and turn off those protestant beg fest channels.😉

marineboy and Malachi4U,

Why would anybody not like Billy Graham? Graham is not a heretic. A lot of Catholic’s like Graham and for a very simple reason and that is because Graham is not Anti-Catholic. And I am not going to stop watching Protestant ministers for the simple reason that I do not believe that the Catholic Church is the only True Church. I consider the Protestant Churches to also be True Churches with the exception of the cults of Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons and Christian Science and other cults who do not believe in the Holy Trinity(also the Deity of Christ).

Wow, are you going for the all-you-can-eat Christian Buffet?

Albert, being the One True Church does not mean that nobody else has any inkling at all about what Christianity is. The Catholic Church IS the One True Church, because in her abides the fullness of truth, and she is the visible center of Christ’s Apostolic charism. You might enjoy reading the sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church which deal with how the Church stands in relation to Protestant denominations. Though the denominations contain part of the truth, there is always some defect of faith which rejects the fullness of Christ. There is always something missing.

The paragraphs in the CCC on the unity of the Church start here.

Hey, Michael! You’re one of the good guys on these forums!

Take it easy on Albert. He is like half a billion other Catholics out there who were never rightly taught their faith. Our job is to coach, not carp.

I watch these Television evangelists sometimes, but it is only for a couple of minutes, as soon as they start preaching non-Catholic teachings, I turn the channel to EWTN.

Sometimes I watch Charles Stanley and I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say anything offensive about anything. He just gives sermons that any priest could give. He loves God and wants you live a godly live. Non doctrinal. He’s a good guy sounds like a father speaking to his children.

Did you ever hear Jesus talking about only the good stuff? jesus talked pretty sternly about the bad stuff too. “If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it into the sea. It is better to be in heaven with one eye, than burn in Gehanna with two.” The problem with most televangelists is that there is not meat in their message, but lots of fluff.

I apologize if I came off abrasive. I used to be one of those Catholics.
Bible instruction can be found in the Catholic faith, I think the problem a lot of Catholics have is that they don’t get it at Mass. That’s not what Mass is for and Catholics need to understand that.

Peace.

Actually, if you do nothing other than go to Mass every week and holy day of obligation, you will get the entire bible every 3 years.
