Did you ever hear Jesus talking about only the good stuff? jesus talked pretty sternly about the bad stuff too. “If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it into the sea. It is better to be in heaven with one eye, than burn in Gehanna with two.” The problem with most televangelists is that there is not meat in their message, but lots of fluff.
Hi Scott,Evidently you do not stay on the channel long enough to hear complete messages. The problem is you get up after the appertizers and not enjoy the meal. 😃 God Bless

Hi Scott, okay,my assumption was wrong. I appoligize. 😦 God Bless

By the way, how many times does Robert Schuller on average mention the Gospels, the passion or sin in his sermons?

I believe these are vital parts of our Chrsitian faith.

You misunderstood what I was saying. I just meant that he doesn’t preach antiCatholic. He is one of the best preachers that I’ve heard and I respect him. He isn’t about fluff.

I have watched and listened to Charle Stanley. I like him. But you do have to be aware of when he teaches something contrary to what our Catholic faith teaches us. He will insist that nothing but faith alone is required for salvation.

Hi Michael,I also believe he is one of the better teachers of the Word, but I also have heard him teach in error. We all have to be careful what others preach. God Bless

I’m not a regular viewer of Charles Stanley and I’m very careful of what I take in because I know he isn’t Catholic. However, I have to do the same every Sunday at church. Sometimes I think I’m more vulnerable in my own church if I don’t listen carefully to the teaching. Just because it is preached by a Catholic doesn’t mean it is correct teaching.

Although I haven’t seen him for several years, Kenneth Copeland is (or at least was) very anti-Catholic. Not just against our teachings either, against Catholics as people. My ex-fiance was a member of his Church (by sending a check 😃 ) and had him on all the time. His written work is even worse.

Has he softened up over the years?

kmktexas,

I have never heard Copeland preach anything that is Anti-Catholic and in fact Copeland has had Catholic Priests on his program from time to time.

Why would anybody not like Billy Graham?
Are you sure about that? Billy Graham is a Southern Baptist, and I believe that he preaches the heresy of antinomianism under the guise of “Once Saved, Always Saved”.

Argghhh… My last post #32 makes no sense and it is NOT what I wanted to submit. I don’t know how that happened.

One more time …

Graham is not a heretic.
Are you sure about that? Billy Graham is a Southern Baptist, and I believe that he preaches the heresy of antinomianism under the guise of “Once Saved, Always Saved”.

Does Billy Graham believe that the Eucharist is the real presence of Christ?

Does Billy Graham acknowledge that scriptures distinguish between mortal sin and venial sin?

Does Billy Graham believe that baptism is a sacrament that forgives all sin and brings about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?

Etc. etc.

Heretic is not synonymous with “bad person”. A heretic is someone that believes erroneous doctrine. I don’t believe that Billy Graham is a bad person, in fact, I admire him as a sincere, but misguided individual that is trying to do his best to lead people to Christ.

I agree that we can often learn a lot from our Protestant brothers and sisters. Some are very good at teaching and preaching, but there is always something lacking – the Eucharist, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacraments.

There is so much in our scriptures about these important elements of our faith, and our Protestant friends miss these because they are not familiar with them and do not believe in the Real Presence.

It’s like squinting to read the bible and making some errors because you can’t see it well. When you put on the “glasses” of the Catholic faith and teachings, you see the scriptures and their relevance in our lives in a whole new light!

Technically, Biily Graham is a separated brother who espouses ideas that are tantamount to heresy, in material. Billy Graham cannot be a heretic, since one needs to be baptised CAtholic for that. He can be “guilty” of teaching material heresy if he teaches a doctrine that differs from Catholicism, as long as he is doing it from a point of innocense (I.e., he is not doing it in an intentional or malicious fashion.)

Agreed. Technically, Billy Graham is a material heretic and not a formal heretic.

Billy Graham cannot be a heretic because he was never Catholic. To be a heretic, you have to at some point be in union with the Church. Billy Graham never was. However, his theological perspective is heretical. One can teach a heretical idea without being a heretic. I know this sounds wierd. One would think that only heretics can teach heresy. Not true. There are heretical ideas, i.e., theology that is at odds with established Catholic doctrine. Then there are heretics, i.e., baptised Catholics who dissent with established doctrine. If a non-Catholic teaches heresy, they are just separated bretheren.

I enjoy some of Billy Grahams sermons if you call it that, they can be very stirring and heart lifting as I also enjoy Dr.Dobson, I can appreciate alot of what he says and I enjoy the stories he and his wife share about when their kids were little, I can relate to those, I don’t agree with everything but I can appreciate the things that I do and enjoy it for that.
Oral Roberts, well, I have some relatives that are big time into that ministry and I don’t like it one bit, almost a cultish type thing and also I always turn the channel when I see Jimmy Swaggart (spell?)
oh, there is one more guy , Benny Jin? He touches people and they fall over, I laugh so hard I cry, that is sad 😛
Peace everyone 🙂

Its Benny Hinn, and he is a “Word of Faith” Pentacostal faith-healer, which is synonymous with snake-oil salesman.

Scott, I always thougt that to be a schismatic you had to have been Catholic but that being a heretic you could be anyone. Are you sure?
