I am in a bipolar depression phase. I was in the mental hospital a month ago for suicidal ideation for a week… I’m better now. but I’m hardly getting out of bed except to go to church , support groups. I know the phase needs to ridden out. I take my meds I pray I read my magnificat.
I live with my mom and her boyfriend I also have aspergers syndrome. I go to my day care. mental illness is difficult. Ive been watching cartoons and hanging out with church friends. Please pray for me , thank you.

Does anyone else go through this its really hard. I know many people have mental illness. I’m having a hard time dealing with it right now very depressed. I use my coping skills. I hope to get advice on here as well.

God bless you for the courage to do your best to cope with your challenges.
My immediate response was to admire you.
May God continue to hold you in His heart and to guide and bless you

Hi Catlady,

I’ve struggled with treatment resistant depression and dysthymia a lot in the past. I’m quite a bit better now with the help of the correct meds. Shoot me a pm if you would like anytime.

There are a number of people here who suffer from various mental illnesses. I think to a large degree it is a participation in the sufferings of Christ. Often I think of Jesus’ Agony in the Garden and then others also relate it to the Crowning with Thorns.

I think in many ways, at least it seems to me, mental illness can be worse than physical sufferings because it seems to strike closer to one’s spirit or soul because it affects ones intellect and will quite profoundly at times. Plus there is still a stigma to mental illness and it is more less “invisible” in one sense, to those around us. Diabetes or a person in a wheel chair is quite obvious to others but an invisible crown of thorns…quite a different story.
