I am looking for prayers, meditations, anything that will help my bipolar wife. She is a cradle Catholic, with severe depression and mild manias. Please any help is appreciated.

I think a good start would be not publicizing your wife’s name and illness and then asking for prayers. I understand it’s difficult. My mother was bipolar. Treat your wife with love, kindness, and respect. Being bipolar is an organic, physical condition. Medication and counseling will treat it.
I will pray that you can be Christ to her and love her and respect her. That your marriage is built on the foundation which is Christ, and that you will know what it means to lay your life down for your wife.

I am praying for her. God bless you and your wife. I have been praying for a family member suffering from a mental behavioral disorder. St. Dymphna (7th Century, Feast day May 15) is a Saint who is thought of by many as a patron of the mentally ill.

here’s a prayer that i pray all the time, it’s a prayer to Saint Dymphna for those with mental and nervous disorders…
O Lord, God, Who has graciously chosen St. Dymphna to be the patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders, and has caused her to an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who invoke her intercession, grant, through the prayers of this pure, youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all who suffer from these disturbances, and especially to those for whom we now pray.
(Here mention those for whom you wish to pray.)
We beg You to accept and to satisfy the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant us patience in all our sufferings and resignation to Thy Divine Will. Fill us with hope and, if it be in accord with Thy Divine Plan, bestow upon me(him, her) the cure I so earnestly ask for. Through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
ok, hope that helps…i actually have quite a few family members with bipolar disorder, and most of them refuse to take their medicine, so i know how stressful this can be, not just on those who are dealing with them, but the ones with the bipolar themselves, my one little cousin is so frustrated with herself, she’ll just be so angry and aggressive, physically and verbally, and she can’t control herself, but she realizes afterwords what she has done, and always apologizes for it…it’s so hard to see her go threw that, but we keep praying.

I have type II bipolar - severe depressions and mild “mania.” I’d love to stay manic, because that’s when I get things done.
I pray to St. Dymphna a lot. Her intercession got me to change doctors, and my treatment program is much better now. My new doctor is more interested in helping me function than in being right.
The most important thing is to take that medication every day. When she is depressed, lovingly remind her to take it.
Most of the depressives I know who don’t take their meds do it out of pride. They don’t want to be dependent on a drug. Remind her that bipolar is caused by malfunctioning brain chemistry, and that to need the chemicals is nothing to be ashamed of. Is a diabetic ashamed of taking insulin?
I’ll pray for you both.
