You know what this reminds me of? The condom question!

Remember? There was a question, Is it ok to use a condom if you are not using it for it’s contraceptive benefit but in order to protect yourself from the transmission of HIV.

The Pope said" No."

Remember?
Sheri, these are two different moral situations.

The teaching on condoms is not instructive here as it is not the same underlying principle.

not you Ike, not you too… I don’t think I can handle you on this… I love Ike…
Don’t hate me, I can’t take it if you hate me too. I know this is a loaded issue, just don’t hate me ok?

Here goes.

The principles mirror each other well. There are lives at stake in both, there is the marriage act that is important but not paramount. I think they are a good comparison and Rome ruled out use of the c thing.

I want to understand your response, please be kind. I’m not really the castironb@#$ that I sound like.
Forgive me Kffla if you took me to mean condemnation and shaming. That was not my intent.

Apples and Oranges.

That isn’t double effect.

A condom doesn’t treat existing HIV/AIDS.

A pill does treat various medical conditions. We aren’t preventing anything…just treating something that we already have.
Treat it then. Fine. But you can’t use your marriage rights under those circumstances.

Yes, Apples and oranges. There should be a life at risk before you can put another life at risk and try to justify it. Ectoptic pregnancy, have been justified using double effect…

I don’t hate you. It’s not personal. I, and many others, come to a different conclusion than you do.

I’m tired and it’s late. I’ll post more tomorrow if this thread is still open.

sorry your feeling bullied. Not my intent.

This is an important issue, a lot of people are confused by this. Children’s lives are at stake souls are on the line.
Can you explain how?
Because the person I know in the end was not even able to have children anyway and stopped because she chose to do so. The pill was used to take terrible pain away that could stop a person from going about day to day.

May I ask how that is wrong?
