Does anyone know a good place to find information on the marquette method?

Online I Googled Marquette NPR and there is plenty of info there. My wife and I are going to look at this tonight. G1j

Hmph. As someone new to these forums I’ll say that was very rude. If that had been my first response to my first thread started here, I probably wouldn’t have come back. OP was asking for helpful advice and there were much nicer ways to phrase that, besides telling her that she wasn’t an animal and should control herself. Not nice.

I am so sorry to hear about your thyroid problems and your difficult situation.

I agree with others about pursuing another NFP option, and using it very conservatively with frequent periods of abstinence. This is really the only way to prevent the conception of a child who might suffer the negative consequences of the medication you are on.

In addition to looking into the Marquette Model (nfp.marquette.edu/), which is a mucus-only method that also utilizes a fertility monitor, I’d recommend investigating the Creighton Model (creightonmodel.com/), another mucus-only method with extensive scientific research underlying it. The Pope Paul VI Institute (popepaulvi.com/) promotes the use of NaProTechnology (“natural procreative technology”) in conjunction with the Creighton Model charting by a trained physician, who uses the charts as a tool to identify and treat other underlying health problems. They are also very helpful in helping couples use the model more effectively according to their intentions. You can search for a NaPro trained physician here: fertilitycare.org/.

I have a thyroid condition (hypothyroidism, the opposite of yours!) that is being effectively managed by my NaProTechnology-trained physician. Hopefully there is a treatment option available for you that would not threaten your unborn child.

But it is true, and just because you may or may not be overly sensitive does not detract from that fact.

She doesn’t NEED to have sex, and it is possible to control herself, or do you want something else to be said?

People can explain the concept of various NFP methods versus abstinence without coming across as mean and/or judgemental. That is all I mean. I don’t consider myself overly sensitive but really that would have been a huge turn off to me if that had happened with my first thread. People can learn so much here so it’s a shame if people cone here for help and are treated that way.

I don’t think you were being sensitive. It was a rude comment.

I do not know if I will be granted my decree of nullity so I do not know if I will be called to marriage. Even knowing that I made the decision to have my fertility restored (I had a tubal ligation before I was Catholic) even though I do have some health issues. The Lord will provide. That s all I can say.

You are falsely implying that the truth is void from being harsh or rude. However, the two are not mutually exclusive. If a kid has cancer and I walk up to him and proclaim: “You have cancer. You will most likely live your life having treatment after treatment and slowly die painful death in the hospital.” One might then proclaim, “athat is rude.” However, based on your flawed logic, the person would reply. “What? Just because you are overly senestive to the cruel truths of this world, does not make my statement false.” Your logic is void of any coherent reason.

Hi ajm427, welcome to the forum.
