One thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet…
Marriage is supposed to be a complete giving of each person to the other, and that includes the marital act. In fact, the marital act is a renewal of the wedding vows. If the man uses a condom, he is withholding his fertility from his wife. If the woman uses the pill, she is withholding her fertility from her husband. But if they “do it” while she is naturally infertile, no one is withholding anything, but taking advantage of God’s design.
Marriage is also a three-way covenant, between the man, the woman, and God. Not only does contraception deny the spouses complete mutual self-giving, but it denies God His involvement.
So contraception turns sex from a renewing of the marital covenant to a selfish seeking after pleasure.
Hope that helps. And I, too, recommend the
Janet Smith article.
God bless you,
Ruthie
