Hello,
I am having a birthday party for one of the new ladies in our neighborhood. She is young, about 25, has a 1-year-old and is a devout Catholic. What kind of gift should I get her since I don’t know her that well? What would you have liked at this point in your life? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Oohhh I am going to be 25 early next year, but I don’t have a child.

However, you know what I really want for me?

I am seriously dying to buy the new Giada De Laurentiis cookbook!

I know it isn’t Catholic, and I know it isn’t that exciting, but she is GREAT…and so are her recipes! I own her other cookbooks, and I really enjoy them.

I also have a growing book list. I really want to read Mission of the Catholic Family by Rick Sarkisan * and Life-Giving Love: Embracing God’s Beautiful Design for Marriage by Kimberly Hahn.*

I would suggest Rachel Ray’s 30 minute meals cook book since the lady has a 1 year old child. She probably does not have a lot of spare time.

If she likes music, the possibly a cd from a Catholic artist. They run the spectrum from traditional hymns to contemporary praise songs that might be fun to sing along with her child. Also lots of my friends put contemporary Catholic music into their mp3 players for when they exercise. She may get to go to a gym or she may just take walks with her child. Either way some upbeat, spiritually nourishing music would complement the activity.

I also saw a cute book for children to learn their prayers, etc in Spanish on Amazon. I think it was called Learning Spanish with Grace.

Depending on how much you want to spend their are lots of Catholic books directed toward women and some nice Catholic jewelry too.
