Some tend to think that the rules & Church were established in the years 1965-70, everything else is archive material.

They that prefer the ordinary I say peace be with you, until you try to introduce practices not associated with extra-ordinary…

I feel so sad for you people. The Church has failed you, which is not surprising, given the Church in North America and Europe over the past 40 years.

Fasting on Friday is a tradition of the Church, and required by canon law. I’m not sure if you noticed, but the Church has the power to bind and loose. You say “man-made traditions” like it’s something to be ashamed of, but these are not really man-made traditions in the sense that they were just thought up out of thin air by people who had no clue what they were doing. The Church has power, given by Christ Himself, to bind and to loose, and to decide the fasting and abstinence disciplines (among MANY other things) of its faithful, and can bind people to these obligations under pain of sin, or can, conversely, loose them from previous restrictions, as has happened in recent years.

For Heaven’s sake, we in the Latin Church are now asked (read: expected, under pain of sin) to do the BARE minimum. It is EMBARRASSING how little we are asked to fast and abstain; to many it seems downright unCatholic. It is shockingly, disturbingly little. And yet some of you whine like little five year olds, like someone asked you to cross the Sahara desert barefooted in July. Give me a break and have some pride.

hehe
if he wants to drop cheap one liners in this forum all the time, just to upset traditionalists, then he’ll be sure to be expecting me. 👍
Bool of Revelation Chapter 1 Verse 17

When I caught sight of him, If ell down at his feet as though dead. He touched me with his right hand and said, " Do not be afarid. I AM the first and the last, the one who lives. Once I was dead, but now I AM forever and ever, I HOLD THE KEYS TO DEATH AND THE NETHER WORLD. WRITE THIS DOWN what you have seen.👍 👍

At least we now understand the motivation. Superbia

Your actually right for once, they wouldn’t. So let’s simplify everything - follow the Church.
Book of Revelatiion Chapter 22 verse 16

I Jesus have sent my agnel to testify to you thiese things concerning the CHURCHES. I AM the root and the offspring of David the bright morning star. And the Spirit adn the bride say 'COME" . And let him who THIRSTS come; and he who wishes let him receive the water of life FREELY. I TESTIFY to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this BOOK. …If ANYONE shall ADD to them, God will add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his portion from the TREE OF LIFE, and from the HOLY City, and from the things that are written in this book.

Does the Catholic Church teach us or preach or spread the book of revelations? Just asking than you!👍 🤷

God Bless

How does this question of yours fit in this thread about Communion on the Tongue??

But, yes the Catholic Church alone has the real authority to teach and preach the Gospel. It does this throught the Magisterium, through the revelations given the Apostles, and then through the Scriptures. While all three sources of the Truth are important and unified, history proves that they were established in a certain order, the third of which was the New Testament and then the canon of Scripture.

Since that canon includes the Revelation written by the beloved John, the answer to your question is a simple YES.

now, back to the O P

I see the need for good catechesis here. People we need to form our consciences to fit the teachings of the Church. Not to create traditions and dub it Tradition.

Receiving on the hand is acceptable. Receiving on the tounge seems more reverent tough, but not required. Some of you are sounding like fundamentalists with there eye for and eye tooth for a tooth theology, hellfire and brimstones theology. When you where a miter with valid apostolic succession, I’ll listen more earnestly. I understand you feelings, but it is not required as of this time. The Bishop can not speak form authority in place of the Bishop of Rome, our Papa, Pope Benedict XVI. However, I do believe we need to reinstall the rails and have those that can come forward and kneel it possible. I would like to see us return to the days of intinction, priests and deacons communing others. That would require the Bishops to recognize the need for more deacons in the Church thus fully restoring the diaconate to its office. That is Tradition, not tradition, that was abandoned. Rather than having EMCHs, like myself, we should hand that back to its rightful office, the Ordinary Eucharistic Ministers. Then we would have more reverence. I volunteer because of the bazaar folks that get up their. Personally, I have an issue with women, though I put it out of my mind so as NOT to sin in my thoughts. I do NOT have the right to say who gets to do what, so I put up with it.

Slamming people by questioning their catholicity is just sinful and needs to be confessed as not being cheritable and teaching false doctrine. Just my opinion, but ask you orthodox Catholic spiritual directors.

PAX Christi tecum

I believe you are coming into the discussion a little late, and missed some points. Some horrifying stances (coming from a very skewed understanding of the Church) were causing some of us posters to double check if indeed other posters were truly Catholic, and had nothing to do with the indult that allows us to receive on the hand.

If anyones Christian character was called into question because of this topic, it was the traditionalists, for expressing their preference for receiving on the tongue.

It would be sweet if you bothered to follow the flow of the exchange.

:hmmm:
