Bishop John D’Arcy writes on conflict at Notre Dame:

For the second time, the University of Notre Dame is sponsoring, through six of its departments, a seminar and film festival under the title Queer Film Festival. The presenters who have been scheduled have a history of not supporting, and indeed openly opposing, church teaching concerning the morality of homosexual acts.

The Notre Dame University was the university that wanted to invite the muslim Tariq Ramadan, a swiss, that in France in a debate with Sarkozy and Le Pen didn´t want to condemn the lapidattion and many pro-islamic people call the “Luther of muslims”. With this, I don´t see strange this new thing.

I posted on Tariq some time back but no one here cared to discuss it - I was stunned - anyone who has read up on him knew instantly what he was and why on earth Notre Dame would fight the State Department to get him in this country is mind boggling.

See thread:

I know the Italian press has written several long articles about him …

Someone mentioned in the forum today to remember to pray for the pope and the church. We often forget that I think. We are so used to “having them” that it never occurs to us that as some who came before us, we may have a very difficult time in the future practicing with a high profile church leader.

I would like to see the good bishop go a step further and forbid them from having their festival under pain of interdict.

Is Notre Dame still a Catholic University??? I thought they gave that up years ago. 😦

I visited ND for the first time a few weeks ago. I went into the basillica which is beautiful and had an organist practicing. Other than him and some guides, there was no one in there! You would think there would be at at least one person praying. If I lived nearby I would be in there all the time.

Apparently interdict is only for those who resist the Bishop’s administrative authority. 😉

Apparently interdict is only for those who resist the Bishop’s administrative authority; theological rebellion must be handled pastorally. 😉
