Bishop Jean Laffitte Interview on "Theology of the Body"

I saw this late last week. While there is a lead-in news story at Catholic News Agency, I think those interested will want to read the complete interview before commenting.

Bishop Jean Laffitte is the Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family. CNA interviewed him about Blessed John Paul II catechesis on human love, most often referred to as “Theology of the Body”.

This is one of those things worth reading slowly and carefully, perhaps more than once.

I thought it was an excellent interview. He had some good thoughts on JPII’s “Theology of the Body” and I liked how he stressed that it’s not a theology of sexuality, but a theology of the human body as a whole. It seems, in my opinion, too much of the debate in English emphasizes the sexuality aspect when perhaps it should focus more attention on the human body as a whole.
