thank you for the brief background on him. 🙂 he certainly has had his share of tragedy.
he has led an interesting life so far with a lot of life experience. i pray that he will be a good leader for the anglican communion.
Thankyou 7 Sorrows. I was fascinated with what I read yesterday. He has indeed had his share of tragedy.
I hope he can and will be a force for good.
God bless him

I understand and agree with what you are saying but certainly within the Anglican Church, I can see no valid reason for rejecting the ordination of women as far as I see it can only be objected to on the grounds of tradition where as Anglicanism appeals to scripture, reason and tradition.

And nothing in reason or scripture suggests we unilaterally can change the tradition, of the undivided Church. One can see what I mean in Lewis’ “Priestesses in the Church” or Mascall’s “Women Priests”. Or, magisterially, in Paul VI’s* Inter Insigniores* and particularly John Paul II’s *Ordinatio Sacerdotalis/I. Any more than we can unilaterally decare baptism to consist of striking the subject 3 times on the head with a Bible. Form, matter.

Within Anglicanism, the divergent view results in two different Churches. Which is ok by me.

Though I certainly know Anglicans who make such an argument. They abandon the idea of the priesthood that has held since the beginning. Not a point one who holds to the tradition can live with; no point of compromise. Invalid sacraments are not of much use. as any RC will tell you, with respect to any Anglican orders.

I believe it is time Anglicans choose the next ABC by vote of the Primates (somewhat akin to the College of Cardinals) with their top 2 selections presented to Her Majesty for confirmation of her choice. The Communion would take a distinctly different look in short order.

The Communion was polled, as to the sort of person desired. Problem with letting the Primates vote directly on filling *Cantuar’*s see is that the position is that of Primate of the CoE. That position is filled internally to the CoE as an independent Church, not as a function of heading the Communion, which is composed of self-governing, independent jurisdictions…

I’ve seen the idea raised of separating the functions, of Primate of the CoE, and titular head of the Communion. In which case, I’d think your suggestion merited consideration.

Not that it would make any difference to me.

Maybe a glimmer of hope.

*Fed up with what they see as a continual undermining of “the faith once for all delivered to the saints”, Anglican leaders from Nigeria and Kenya meeting at the ACC-15 blasted the words and actions of leaders here. They also said it was time for the Primates of the Anglican Communion to elect one of their own who will call their meetings with an enhanced responsibility to guard the Faith and Order of the Anglican Communion. *

Kenya and Nigeria being the largest Anglican bodies in the Communion.

That’s precisely what I was referring to, above.
