Bishop of Lansing to say Pontifical EF Mass

Bishop Boyea of Lansing will be saying a Pontifical Low Mass in his diocese

Faithful of the Diocese of Lansing are invited to assist at a Pontifical Low Mass celebrated by their ordinary, his excellency, Bishop Earl Boyea, on Low Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Old St. Patrick Church, Ann Arbor.

In addition to this pontifical Mass, Old St. Patrick has monthly Traditional Latin Masses, which are celebrated on the second Sunday of each month.

Following the bishop’s Mass, there will be a reception in the parish hall.

He did much the same when he was an auxillary bishop here in Detroit. The EF Masses offered here are done by diocesean priests, and he regularly participated, filling in when one of the diocesan priests was unable to say Mass.

Well there really isn’t much higher up the ladder a bishop can go past a diocese, except being moved to a Cardinalatial See.

This is something we hope and pray our priests don’t intend to do… aspire to “move up the ladder.”

Agreed. It is my hope that everyone who wants access to the EF Mass, will have it. I have only been to one to date and while I prefer the OF, I am thrilled to see those who prefer the EF get access to it.

I don’t know it worked for then Archbishop Burke when he was in St. Louis.
