I am glad that the priest from the Latin Mass i went to this weekend gave the information about this organization. he also said that if we want to give, give to a charity where we know where the money goes. I am pretty sure no one in that parish gave money to cchd. thank you father for the honesty. why should we gave money to people who we dont even know. we have so many Catholic places that are struggling to survive like the Church in Israel, the Church in Africa, and many many others. how can this organization get our money when so many good Catholic are in need and starving. i just dont get it.

i wanted to see him aftwords so i could bless him, but the priest goes out the back door so i didnt see him out there.

he is really devout. He makes sure in his Mass the CC is emphasized in all things.

I too have spoken to my priest before this Sunday. He reassured me that he was not seeking the collection and also said the money can be used for other charities. In addition he is not going to give the general collection to CCHD (per archdiocese policy) as we are a parish who is struggling financially 😦

CinciMom: I’m sorry your parish is struggling, but commend your priest!

I had written to the 10 Bishops who did not participate in the CCHD Collection (to thank them). I received a response from Bishop Barres’ office (Diocese of Allentown) saying that instead of collecting for the CCHD, they had a collection for the poor of their Diocese. 👍

It’s not just the minority of projects that CCHD funds that disagree with Catholic teaching; the problem even with others is that they tend to duplicate what other agencies already are doing. For instance, they helped fund some union drives for poor workers, but there is the AFL-CIO that can and does do things like that. In Buffalo the funded groups also get money from secular sources. One CCHD funded group lobbied against Catholic Charities being the provider for WIC program, because they wanted the County to do that!! It is not enough to give the bishops veto power over the funded groups, they should allow the bishops to choose their own priorities.

And how will the average Catholic verify that CCHD won’t funnel any more money to Obamacorn or other leftist groups?

CCHD is tainted worse than meat infected with mad cow.
