He said he was told by the brother of a reiki master that the man was “working on somebody one day when he actually says he saw a vision of Satan” and was “scared out of his wits, dropped the reiki and went back to the Church”.

The bishop said: “You’re channelling energies, in inverted commas, you could well be opening yourself up to letting a spirit in which is not good and is dangerous stuff, actually.”

Probably better time used focusing on the devils involved in all the child and adolescent sexual abuse.

You assume there’s a distinction between them. Divination and witchcraft invite demons into you. Once they are invited in, they will incite you to engage in all manner of wickedness. What could please a demon more than to bring down a priest of God, making him a scandal to the world and a sacrilege to God?

Yep he’s right. I know several people who are Reiki masters and all of them seem incredibly unhappy (miserable even in some instances). It’s scary stuff…I’ve had to quit jobs b/c I don’t like how involved in New Age stuff everyone gets. It affects the workplace for sure. (I’m a Massage Therapist and this field is overrun with this sort of mentality. I’ve never met so many Wiccans and Pagans (self proclaimed Heathens who follow Odin) as I have in this industry.)

I can understand this.

I’m sorry that you’ve had to deal with this.

As a patient, you face the same thing. It’s difficult when you’re trying to find someone to help you, too. You just literally want to find someone to help you and treat you, and then you find out that they’re also into New Age practices and they bring them into their treatment protocol.

I tend to think reiki and new age stuff is just a bunch of hokus pokus superstitious gobbledygook.

I guess some of it could be demon inspired or open doors to demonic spirits… But I think most of it is simply fraud like psychics and mediums. Nothing supernatural about it - pure, all American, natural bovine feces.

Thanks and I agree! I only trade massages with people who i know aren’t into that stuff.

Maybe but I doubt the perpetrating priests were into Reiki or new age stuff.

It’s far more serious than that. People think the Church of Satan doesn’t exist or that it does not do its work in subtle ways. The devil is quite real. His favorite weapon is deception.

True. I was married to someone (annulled now) who had reiki attunements and some of the most terrible things happened. I am not talking the usual bad stuff - ie, an elderly relative dies, getting layed off etc, but misc. and random violent reactions from people that seemed totally out of the blue, etc. I don’t doubt that some people think they are “helping” others but in the end they are not. There is also a very false narrative of Jesus that is taught.

Let’s remember that correlation is not the same as causation. Sometimes when there is a correlation, you may think that you have found a causation.
