You couldn’t tell by the Catholics on CAF. Once one SSPX thread is closed, a day doesn’t go by without a new one being created… :rolleyes:

Be careful agreeing with me. I received a warning for being uncharitable for what I said. They would have warned Christ at least three times for the same reason if He were to post what He said about the Pharisees (brood of Vipers) or St Peter (Get behind me, Satan) so I’m in good company.

Hard to believe that CA’s version of a “decent human being” would be an antisemitic, holocaust denying, weasely excommunicated liar. But the world’s a strange place.

It’s about more than being uncharitable. We may disagree with what a Bishop says, but it is CAF’s rules that we must still be respectful. I guess the warning made no difference.

Aside from CAF, we really should be respectful of the successors of the Apostles, even if we find some of their their views unacceptable.
 
I think it is more than possible that Bishop Williamson is being used to manipulate the situation between SSPX and Rome.

As soon as it was announced that Rome had lifted the excommunication, the media was flooded with reports of Williamson’s holocaust “denial.”

As soon as it was reported that talks had ended and SSPX were given the preamble, the media was flooded with “Jews Worried By Vatican Gesture to Traditionalists.”

Now, right at the time one would expect some sort of response to the preamble, Bishop Williamson is “lashing out at the Jews again.”

I really don’t know what the game is.

Is Bishop Williamson trying to sabotage the reunification?

Little news tidbits are continually leaked about loose cannon, badboy, Bishop Williamson.

The game is always that they are trying to keep him down so he doesn’t spoil the party, but he just won’t be muzzled.

Whenever anything is going on, he pops up with another headline bid, and usually about the Jews.

Do they just want to keep their name in the news? SSPX, I mean.

Let’s face it, all this has been great publicity for SSPX.

I’m betting that far, far more people have heard of them and what they’re all about than ever knew of them before, and most especially because of Bishop Williamson.

You know the saying, “any press is good press.” Maybe that’s the game.

My personal opinion is that most of the SSPX do not want to unite with Rome. I think Bishop Williamson is totally their boy. Maybe SSPX is planning a split. They’ll have a 5th column that unites with the Church and a large remnant out of the Church under the leadership of Bishop Williamson.

That way they can maintain the maximum amount of power and influence with their members, and heavily influence Rome.

Anyway, just a theory. Time will tell.
 
Geez what’s is wrong with some of you? How did this all quickly turned to pointing fingers at Catholics as Jew-haters and Holocaust deniers? Some of you need to chill out and maybe even go to confession, sounds like some of you have become self-hating Catholics. No one is saying the holocaust did not occur. Some are just stating what the Bishop stated, and perhaps even why he said those thing. Also, last time I check the man is still a Bishop and deserves respect for that title, it’s amazing how when a “traditionalist” has a negative opinion on a bishop you are all quick to pull out the “he is a Bishop card no don’t speak negatively”. I am not defending this man, nor is it my spot to condemn him, instead he needs prayer to be shown truth. No people on this earth are clean from sin, we have all been guilty on something, and the blood of Christ is on all of our hands.

There are rules on this forum this does not just apply when speaking about Bishop Willimson, but any other clergy. Please don’t act like the innocent victim, you are not. You are just as bad as the Bishop who denied the holocaust.

So disagreeing with an excommunicated bishop who is prohibited from celebrating Mass is the same as denying the murder of 6 million Jews, now?

I agree with the first part, that I have bolded. But I disagree that it is Bishop Williamson that it trying to sabotage the reunification process. Afterall, didn’t he personally & humbly apologise to the Pope for the drama he previously caused and offer to remove himself from the process.

I think it is obvious who is behind the manipulation of Bishop Williamson. Because the SSPX adopt a traditional stance on church teachings, including that there is no salvation outside the church and yes, the traditional role the Jews played in the life and death of our Lord, I think it is clear who does not want to see the SSPX fully reunited with Rome. I’m sure the Jewish community are quite happy with the direction the modern Catholic church has taken over the last 40 or so years, absolving the Jews from any involvement in the death of our Lord, and the lovey dovey, happy clappy teachings that all religions have merit and we will all go to heaven.

Not really. We’re all guilty of sin. We all needed redemption. But, the Jews called his blood down upon themselves, and offered to take full blame. They didn’t have a problem with that at all, at the time.

You can’t change Scripture. There it is:

"I wash my hands of the blood of this innocent man.(Gentile)
Let his blood be upon us and upon our children."(Jew)"

I think we’re all aware of that aren’t we?

Try as you might, you just can’t make that go away.

I don’t think that God blamed everyone when he destroyed Jerusalem, most of the Jews, and the Temple in 70 A.D. as Jesus predicted, for
"not knowing the time of their visitation."

Actually, the SSPX does not teach “there is no salvation outside the church,” in the strict Feeneyite interpretation. They preach Baptism of desire. They’re really anti-Feeneyite.
They’re okay with Rome on this one.

You said he was a poor excuse for human being, that’s not disagreeing, that was an attack against him. Very immature. Most of us here disagree even condemned what he feels about Jews, you on the other hand went down to his level by using such hard words on a Bishop.
