I heard this on the news last night and was most edified. Maybe some of our prayers for vocations are being answered in such a wonderful way. Ninety-nine is an awesome number of men being ordained. 👍

Do any of you have word in your dioceses of a large number of ordinations? Bishop Zubik is the Ordinary for Pittsburgh. How blessed will be the parishes that are served by these men! I am getting excited that so many are being called by God.

Wonderful!.

My archdiocese did not have anywhere close to that many permanent deacons ordained this year.

But my parish is blessed to have ten permanent deacons currently serving our parish. We only have two priests for our large parish and they both have duties outside of the parish. (One is a chaplain for the local military bases and the other is a professor.) The deacons handle most of the weddings, baptisms, and some of the funerals (obviously not Masses). They handle so many of the non-sacramental ministerial services that so many people on these forums tell people they should seek from their priest.

The Diocese of Pittsburgh is very blessed to have these men who will serve it.

Oh boy, is my face red. :o

Apparently the news reporter stated the news wrong. I should have checked Catholic resources before repeating it. I guess it was too good to be true, eh?

We have a steady flow of good men entering the diaconate here. It is quite a commitment.

One of my brother’s friends (my brother is a deacon) is among those 25!
And yes, I think our prayers for vocations are being heard and answered.
One of our deacons at my parish was ordained a priest about a month ago.
God is great, praise God!

25 is still a great number. Of course, after thinking it was 99, it doesn’t seem as impressive. :o

Wait, let’s start over: I heard Pittsburgh has no deacons being ordained. But wait that’s incorrect. They actually have 25!

Okay, now it sounds more impressive. 😛

I tried to find the article online with KDKA-2 news that was the station reporting this. Nothing. Oh well, I’m happy there are 25. The diocese is really blessed to have so many.

25??? One of the men of our parish was ordained today in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. I didn’t go, but to hear that 25 men were ordained deacons is awesome! We have a Mass of Thanksgiving tomorrow for our new deacon.
