If one is known to obstinately reject Church doctrine, especially where murder is concerned, one should be denied Communion.

And I agree with everyone who says politicians shouldn’t be singled out. Why shouldn’t journalists, priests, bishops, laity, professors–whomever–be included?

It seems that it should include anyone who publicly denies Church Teaching. However, it is to be noted that others are expressing belief. The politicians are confirming an intent to act contrary to Church Teaching. That is a reporter can advocate abortion, but only a politician can appropriate public funds for this purpose. I think there is difference here, though I wouldn’t care to be in either set of shoes come Judgment Day.

Joe,

That’s an excellent point. The acts of pro-abortion politicians constitute formal cooperation with murder.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing bishops who are dead set on defying Rome be defrocked.

I personally think that everyone who defies the church on matters of faith should be kept from communion. I also do not believe this can be done without somebody turning it into a witch hunt of sorts, like someone with a grudge against someone else to keep them away under false pretense. I feel the hurdle should be that all who have gone on public record should be banned, no matter if they are a politician or a trash collector

I never thought I’d see the day when any bishop, let alone all but a few, would refuse to deny Communion to persons formally cooperating with child murderers in such an overt, persistent and obstinate manner.

This scandal is beyond comprehension.
