Chinese officials have confirmed plans to ordain a bishop without Vatican approval on November 20. The illicit ordination will severely damage Chinese relations with the Holy See and cause new strains among the faithful in China.

How sad. 😦 I wish the Chinese government would stop having bishops ordained who are more than likely not loyal to the Vatican and try and let relations between the Church and China improve. The only thing the Chinese government is doing here is alienating Catholics who are faithful to the Holy Father which in turn, causes negative feelings between these Catholics and the Chinese government. Of course, such negative feelings probably already exist in some form or fashion but the Chinese government should be doing what it can do to heal those relations.

Unfortunately, I fear that this move of the Chinese government may be a further indication that they have no plans whatsoever to quit persecuting those whose beliefs are not in line with what the governmental system, Communism, is. 😦
