I hope this is the right forum. Anyway I know Paul appointed Timothy Bishop of ephesus. But who did Timothy in turn turn the bishophood too?

I believe that St. John, according to tradition, was the bishop or leader of the Ephesus Church during that latter part of his life. But whether it went directly from Paul->Timothy->St. John, I don’t know.

According to what I could find (using Wikipedia and the Catholic Encyclopedia), we have no records of a Bishop of Ephesus immediately after Timothy. However, we know that St John could have possibly died there, and we know that a church still existed in that area at least until the early 2nd century, because St Ignatius of Antioch wrote a letter to the congregation there. Sorry if this doesn’t really answer the question!

Ignatius of Antioch sent a letter noting a Bishop in Ephesus named Onesimus - (as following Timothy.)
