Bishop's "Pedigree",does it exist?

Pardon me for asking, but I have wondered for years;

Does a Bishop have at his disposal his line of Apostolic sucession back to the Apostles?

Would our Bishops know each of the Bishops who came before him? I’d assume this would be in Rome.
