**Bishops
**
Bishops are the apostles today,
Witnessing in their most loving way,
Showing people the cross of Jesus,
And Bringing the sacraments to us.

Bishops lead dioceses morally,
Teaching faith authoritatively,
Guiding all who in the place reside,
Helping them with others to abide.

Bishops are Jesus’ earthly shepherds,
Evangelizing His Holy Words,
Caring for part of His Earthly flock,
And following the lead of His Rock.

The Archbishop of Rome is the Pope,
In whom we can place our loyal hope,
Who leads the bishops as Christ’s Vicar,
And directs us from moral error.

Bishops pass their power to others,
By laying hands on their new brothers
Through episcopal ordination,
Allowed by papal proclamation.

Bishops are the servants of Jesus,
Bringing Jesus to each one of us,
Assisted by priests in ministry,
Leading us all to eternity.

I agree. That is why I believe that American Catholics should listen to the teachings of their bishops on matters such as capital punishment and immigration.
