Bit worried now

Dear sister of Christ, is there a certain answer that you want to be given you? Did you think that Catholics would tell you it’s okay to attend these “Traditionalist” services or that in doing so you would still be a Catholic? The One Holy and Apostolic Church set forth by Jesus Christ and built upon the rock of Peter is The Roman Catholic Church as it operates today. Any organization who denies the current Church or Vatican II or Pope Fracis is not part of The Roman Catholic Church, neither are its adherents. It takes great humility to accept The Church and all it entails and many people have stumbled at this very point and split away from The Vatican including Protestants. If you want to be a “Catholic” then you have to leave this church (most likely from how it sounds) and go to a real Catholic Church. I don’t think this is the answer you want but praise the good God who has brought you here and given you this knowledge before it is too late. Don’t be puffed up with pride or ashamed of error; glorify the good God that He is leading you home, the proper home where you belong.

Go in the grace of Our Lord -

Zach, lets not exclude fellow Catholics in our zeal for the Faith. Eastern Catholics are just as Catholic in full communion with the Roman Church, but not at all Roman themselves.

Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Church of the East have valid sacraments and Apostolic Succession.

I think I need to talk to the Priest and then make a decision. Thank you to all that replied to my question.

Regards
Heather

Please forgive my inability to properly explain myself. I remain forever your servant and sincerely hope we can now move forward with charity and peace.

Hello everyone,

Almost two years ago I started looking into the Catholic Church, Last year I resigned as an Elder in my Church, as I realised that the Catholic Church really as the only true Church… With work and other commitments etc it has taken some time to complete the Catechism/Instruction, but finally I am almost there!

My co- worker who introduced me to her Priest did say in the beginning that she was a Traditional Catholic, but I really had no idea what that meant. He is a really lovely Priest; he has been very kind and patient with me. I attend the Latin Mass which is so beautiful.
One thing that concerns me now though, I recently read a thread on this board about the SSPX, and that their confessions etc are not valid. So I’m a little bit concerned. The Priest I have been receiving instruction from is not SSPX but is affiliated with them.So would the invalid confession still apply to a Priest who was only affiliated with them?
I really like the Priest and the people I have met since attending the Mass, and I am very comfortable with them, would it be so bad if I remained with them?
I would appreciate some sound advice on this matter
Many Thanks,
Heather
Many are very quick to wrongly and outrageously accuse the SSPX of having invalid confessions, yet they will not warn you that some modernist priests in full communion with Pope Francis, will sometimes give bad advice in the confessional, and even go as far as to tell you that certain mortal sins are not really sins at all.

Almighty God brought you to Catholicism and what sounds like a wonderful parish with a gentle and strong Priest, holy parishioners, and the Latin Mass. Now Satan is trying to take you away.

I recommend reading some papal teachings; such as, Pope Gregory XVI Mirari Vos, Pope St. Pius X Pascendi Dominici Gregis, and Pius XI Mortalium Animos. You might see that the situation in the Church today is not so clear cut, and that those in full communion with the teachings and actions of the most recent Popes, are not necessarily in full communion with the teachings of Gregory XVI, Pius X, Pius XI, and the Church Fathers. As long as the priest does not embrace the error of sedevacantism, I would stay put.

I would also recommend reading the book AA-1025 the Memoirs of a Communist’s Infiltration in the Church, and the book The Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita

May God continue to bless and guide you.

Actually I am not ignorant, neither do I have a poor vocabulary. What I wrote is what I intended to write!.
I think I will seek an answer elsewhere, you seem to be rather judgmental, thank you anyway.

Yeah, that wasn’t directed at you nor was it meant in any derogatory manner.

Church’s, like human beings, grow and change over the years. Let us not make the same mistake as the reformers, dearly beloved, and think that we are better suited to interpreting Sacred Scripture/Sacred Tradition than The Magisterium. Pride comes before the fall and leads us into all sorts of heresy, not that I am pointing that statement at you personally. Accepting the faults of others, whether its a singular person or entire church, with charity and grace is a large part of spiritual formation and we must first extend this courtesy to those of our own family. No one denies that there are serious issues in the modern Church, but that does not give us the right or reason to ever criticize or slanderize those who stand above us in the faith. Let us work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, as the apostle says. To look back at the past and sniff out ways in which to condemn either priests, or The Pope, or The Church in general bends strikingly close to those strifes St. Paul warned St. Timothy about in his epistles. Either way, are we not called to keep our eyes pressed forward towards the mark of Christ? If then, with eyes fixed on Our Lord, we should come across some point or mark of interest that begs questioning we can trust it came from the Holy Spirit. But if we get our lessons from YouTube videos we can trust that we are very immature in the Faith and most likely being led astray. Wide is the gate that leads to destruction and many are they who walk through it unawares. Such is the way with this new breed of YouTube Philosophers - though again, of course, I am not pointing this at you. It is a sad thing but I have found that people on here are so terrible delicate in their emotional state that they assume any point of negation is directed at them as an insult or personal slight. Such is rarely my intention.

The love of God rest in you -

Please also check with your diocese, and find out if this church is in communion with Rome. Between that, and talking with the priest, you should have the information you need. Best wishes.

Thank you for your advice, it is much appreciated.
Best wishes
Heather
Hi Heather,

I would highly recommend that you speak directly to the Priest in question. If he is indeed affiliated with the FSSPX, he will be able to clarify your questions as there is a lot of misinformation that is often spread around message boards.

I attended a lovely church in Leicester when I used to live in the UK, the Priest there was also affiliated with the SSPX.

God Bless.
