Get your kids a dog. A “real” dog - bigger than a football, and of the “working-class” breeds.
A good dog will:
Greet you whole-body excited every day.
Protect you.
Protect your house.
Happily eat the same chow every day.
Want to play at a moment’s notice.
[SIGN]I second that motion[/SIGN]

Have you ever considered “accidentally” dropping him in the toilet during cleaning? 😃 Flush twice just in case.
I thought about it, but it was a fair project. The really sad part is that it died two weeks before fair and we ended up getting another to show. The sad part wasn’t the death. The second one isn’t any nicer. I am so done after this one dies.

perhaps let it roam the great outdoors…and forget to let him back in…or perhaps pass it on to someone that you really dont like:)
There was actually a sign in my bosses neighborhood that said “found hamster.” I think that might have been his situation. Someone found him wondering in the forest I guess. I just wonder how?

we have had a hammy for 2 months now and despite following handling advice it has become more aggressive instead of tamer. We tried to take it back but the pet shop will not rehome him. He can no longer tolerate anything moving and will come out of his tunnel to attack you if you are sorting a different part of his cage. He even attacks his water bottle when it has been refilled. He is, however, completely healthy so we don’t want him put down but we aren’t sure what to do with him. Any hamster experts out there?
I have the same problem with our hamster, I wish I could help. My daughter is usually a little Dr. Doolittle. She told me she wanted to put it up for adoptions. I don’t think they do that.

How is the hamster doing? 2 months isn’t all that long. We had one that took about 8 months before she would stop attacking us. She actually became the most gentle hamster we’d ever had once she stopped biting.
Our last hamster however, bit from the moment he got him till the day he died 4 years later. Good luck!

If your problem still persists, I can give you a couple of good recipies.

Well - its been a while since we got Pepper now and we have sort of accepted that he is just ging to be a grumpy old man. We no longer handle him as the attacks were getting more and more frequent and aggressive. He will attack the wall of his cage when you walk too near the cage. He is a fruitcake. he is a ‘look at’ hamster and not a touchy hamster. don’t know how long he will live with very little attention but he has got what he wants. He is tipped out to be cleaned each week and we put his food in. That is it now.We didn’t find him a new home. We didn’t feed him to the dog (much to her dismay). And we didn’t introduce him to the big wide world.

OUR HAMSTER DIED!!! :extrahappy:

My youngest is really upset and I have to keep up the sad face for her, but I am alone on the computer and inside I am doing the happy dance!!!

I danced the the cage to trash while knowone was looking. Outside I did the victory dunk with all the garbage the critter had accumulated.

Tonight we will have a the funral in the back yard. After bed time my husband will rob the grave and I will be hamster freeeeeeeee!!!

I wondered what had happen to your little pet. i guess some of the orginal poster will be upset that you didn’t feed it to the cats.

I assume that you are not getting a new pets?

Okay, I’m not clear on the grave robbing part. Why?
My kiddos are way to curious and try to dig him up. They have a Cop for a father so they love to look for clues. I didn’t like him alive and I am sure I don’t want to deal with him more than once after death.

We are pet freeeee!!!..Well not counting the fish. I didn’t like the little bugger but I had the patients to wait for him to die of natural causes. I am sure that will disappoint some, but I just didn’t have the heart to take him out.

:rotfl:

I am an LE student wannabe homicide detective.

That is hysterical!

I was invaded last year by gerbils. Apparently my http://bestsmileys.com/angry1/25.gif ex-neighbors, when they moved out, turned the gerbils loose…so the littlehttp://bestsmileys.com/angry1/25.gif darlings moved here.
They made:thumbsup: dandy cat toys!! (It sure is:eek: unnerving, though, to have rodents in your house that, instead of hiding, run up to you, & want to play…)

For future reference: Tame rodents have an:eek: uncanny ability to avoid being caught in traps…but they have:thumbsup: no resistence at all, to salmonella-tainted peanut butter.

Congratulations on the death of the rodentia! (If 😃 God had meant us to keep rodents as pets, they wouldn’t smell so dang http://bestsmileys.com/sick/9.gifputrid!)
