I was thinking about another education that is brain washing our society - The Work Place. Yes, the work place is another ongoing source of education that bombards our families and communities. My husband and BIL were complaining that they had to spen too much time in seminars to make it comfortable for those attracted by same-sex preferences in the work place. My BIL wrote in his annual review that he got the message, and needed the time wasted on such seminars to get actual work done. Now they need a “security clearance” which was presented to me as a badge of high moral standards to keep their job . The same year the companies CEO was retiring and training his prodogies. Well, his new replacement had to resign/was fired due to an affair with a subordinate. Concurrently, my husbands co-workers were having an affair (same grade level) to take over the department. It was revealed on Facebook that these two were having an affair by the husbands wife. My husband anticipated that these two would loose their security clearence. Even my husbands clients (government) assumed this was grounds for loosing security because of possible blackmailing. Well, like a ripple, they were all called to training regarding this, and everyone had to accept that this behavior (adultry) was permissible as long as it was not between boss and subordinate. Well, my husband has a lot of overtime … Shouldn’t I worry that these work education seminars is brainwashing my husband? It’s all over corporate America … Tolerance … I don’t know if these education seminars are worth the overtime. I am not the leader of the household, so I can only pray that a true education would be available for the families of corporations. I wonder if the spouces who suffered from a work culture who promotes adultry, homosexuality, and such sued the employer if these education seminars may end or at least change for the better for families.

The same-sex groups, transgender, and such seem to have benifited from bitting the hand that feeds them. Should families also be looking at the human resource policies of the corporations that provide for them and using their powers to help keep corporations within the boundaries … Or are families too vulnerable to play such dangerious games?

Sex has no place in a professional workplace-tlaking about it, displaying it or gossiping about it. This company sounds horrible.

We are all called to bring our Catholic attitudes to work-forgiveness, avoiding gossip and calumny, and keep our minds pure as well as settling conflict in a Christ like manner. We are called to do works of mercy for our coworkers when needed and help out. It sounds impossibe to do this at your husbands work–they all sound a bit nuts and unprofessional-and afraid of lawsuits.

I would tell your husband to offer this up if he does not want to leave. Also pray for these lost souls too, who are continuing these unproductive political maneuvers.

I wouldn’t worry about brainwashing. They tend to be boring pro-forma things mostly intended as CYA (Cover Your Assets) for the company in the event some employee does something untoward. Look-- we did all this training!!! They knew it was against company policy!!! For folks trying to get their job done they are very annoying and tend to be counter-productive in some ways as the attendees resent being taken away from productive work.

Where I work we have annual training. Only so many times you need to hear something you learned in kindergarten–be pilot and respectful to the people around you while you get your work done.

Sadly, with the “no-fault” divorse policy in many places sex is part of the work place dynamics. Regardless if it comes in the form of two singles meeting and having a relationship, married people having adultrous affairs, same-sex attractions causing adultrous affairs, human resources has to have a policy on how to deal with this unproductive instruction of sex.

The part that is missing is the damage it does to families. Corporations will indeed CYA over creating moral policies. Meanwhile, corporate America is moving on with seminars that go against families. Yet, the management will issue heartfelt thanks to the families that sacrifice for their spouces long hours of work & dedication. I feel for the two spouces that suffered because the work place created an enviroment which lead to the desteuctuon of their family. Yes, I look at my loving, loyal, and human husband who lugs in countless overtime, gets seduced by his employer with rewards, bonuses, group gatherins, and wonder how vulnerable is our family? To see that the words of thanks by the mNagement do not match the actions of human resources, leads me to believe that if families demanded as much from the corporations as the lobiest for same-sex agenda’s we would not have had such a deterioration in conditions. But, when I put this challenge in front of our family, I don’t have the courage to bite the hand that feeds me (corporation). Certainly, if I were one of the spouces that lost their family I might have more reason to play the same game as the other lobiest groups, but since I am not the one being hurt now, I don’t have the motivation … Only the fear.

Is my husbands work place the only one? No, but from experience most work places hack gone this route. I even remember a case study we did in college where the Owner was having an affair with his executive secretary. His executive secutart obtained total control of the work place (Which we discovered as a consultant) and wa the problem with the company’s new clients. At this time, a divorse (owner and spouce) would result in the distruction of the company. As students we had interesting solutions. As an observer of real life, a home maker, and vulnerable to my huaband , corporation, and government laws … Well, the cards are stacked against my profession, a homemaker.

Doesn’t brain washing require a “boring pro-forma” platform? It’s been over a decade since I sat in one, but, that’s where law is formed. Most people think it’s at the government level, but it’s really at the corporations that hire us (feed us). Then the typical responce management gets from HR is check the policy book we covered in the seminar.

Do you know what’s in your companies (or spouces companies) policy book? Have you considered how these help keep your family together or separate your family? How does your actual corporate culture differ from what is written in policy?

Your questions seem to be on two levels: 1. the personal–how will this affect my husband? and 2. the societal–how will this affect society.

Maybe if you talk with your husband about the latter, you will feel more confortable about the former? It sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders and is probably on the same page as you, so you two might end up having some interesting and reassuring talks.

my husbands co-workers were having an affair (same grade level) to take over the department.
Huh ??? How does having an affair (which I am assuming is outside of work) take over a department?
It was revealed on Facebook that these two were having an affair by the husbands wife.
So? the 2 people obviously kept it out of the office so I don’t see why what people do on their own time should affect work
everyone had to accept that this behavior (adultry) was permissible as long as it was not between boss and subordinate.
Catholics are forever having to accept ‘policies’ that go against the teachings. I need to accept that people in my apartment building live together outside of marriage. I don’t agree with it, but Jesus never said following him would be easy
Well, my husband has a lot of overtime … Shouldn’t I worry that these work education seminars is brainwashing my husband?
No, there is no need to worry. Temptation to sin does not just happen in the workforce. It is all over
I am not the leader of the household, so I can only pray that a true education would be available for the families of corporations.
Even if you were the leader of the household, you would not be able to single handedly change corporate America
I wonder if the spouces who suffered from a work culture who promotes adultry, homosexuality, and such .
umm… your husbands workforce is NOT promoting sin. These seminars are basically saying that sinners have the right to work

Honestly, I think your fear is misdirected. We live in very sinful times (but then again, every time had sin). As Catholics we are called to do our best to make this world a better place. If we fail. God will not hold it against us if we did our best because he knows that other people have free will.

Yet, for some reason, you seem to think the only bad influence in this world is the seminars your husband has to attend

I think your concerns are very valid. And as far as as adultery in the workplace is concerned, nothing can really be done about it because people have the right of free association. In most states, the spouse who was cheated on cannot sue the affair partner or workplace under what used to be called “alienation of affection” laws. Most states threw out such laws when they enacted no-fault divorce.

That said, I was once a young housewife who expressed some of the same concerns you have voiced. I am now a divorced single mother of 8. It was his workplace affair that was my breaking point. I had spent years in the background, caring for my family, so my ex could advance in his career. I’ve been out of the workforce for over 20 years and it’s “too bad” for me. I’m expected to go out to work to to support my family, as if I had been doing so all along. It doesn’t matter that I had done so many things for “free” in service to my family unit. Well, actually it does matter that I had worked for free and not for pay. Because I don’t have "paid’ experience, it’s held against me in the job market when I apply for work. Hopefully I’ll land a paid position when I complete the internship my degree program requires. I have several skill sets that I acquired being a SAHM, so I am employable.

Honestly, nobody cares. It disgusts me so much. Me and the kids trudge through poverty while he and his partner live a good life. If I could have seen things for what they really are, I would have done differently. Fortunately for you, you truly see the precarious position you are in as a homemaker.

If I had a do over, I would have made sure that I stayed up-to-date with skills and technology and I would have found some way to remain relevant to the workforce. In today’s changing world, both parents need to be ready to fully support the family, should the need arise.

Your post sounds like you are blessed with a solid marriage and quality husband. That’s very positive. Maybe you and your husband could dialog about what is happening in Corporate and if he would like to make some career changes. If he does want a change you both could create a strategy for moving each of you forward, career wise, while still fulfilling your current roles.

Sound planning toward solid goals helps a couple avoid the common pitfalls that lead to midlife crises in the future, in my opinion. If your husband can avoid the mega madness of corporate America, it might put your mind at ease and give your family better opportunities to lay a solid foundation in Christ. (Not saying to go off the grid, but rather find ways to earn income and invest that are more in line with his/your morals and values. Could he find some type of work through a Catholic fraternal organization? )

Until something changes, I’m afraid that you’ll see more and more of these types of attitudes toward the traditional family unit within corporations. It’s definitely the new normal.

With the questions your proposing, I see that you have a knack for organizational management and human development:thumbsup:

I hear what you are saying, but you should know your husband and whether or not this will be effect him (I doubt it will).

Speaking as a Catholic man in the workplace:
  1. I constantly remind myself that the I am Catholic first and foremost. I heard things in college, the military, and now the workplace, that is literally complete garbage. I knew that. no matter how much someone said otherwise, I knew the truth, as it was rooted in Catholic teachings. No matter how many times I see seminars posted (I own my own company, so luckily, the boss (me) hasn’t prescribed any wasteful, pointless diversity and inclusiveness exercises for the employees), I just roll my eyes. I should probably pray more for those involved, but often my cynicism gets the better of me.
  2. As mentioned, the company is just covering themselves. Much of this sort of work is mandated by government agencies and their policies. I know from experience when I worked for a large corporation, they could do these sort of things and charge the customer so long as the meeting didn’t exceed 1 hr. And literally, at 59 minutes, they stop wherever they were, and dismiss everyone, so as not to incur a cost to them. They don’t care. And more importantly…
  3. No one else cares either. It is the rare nerdy employee who puts serious stock in these talks. Most people have their own principles (many I may disagree with) and these things are big yawners. My wife could always tell when I had a pointless exercise when I’d come home and rant about the nonsense they promoted. She’ll often interpet my ranting as anger, when in reality it is just passion. That’s a sign your husband is probably in no jeopardy. I can’t walk by a “Diveristy in the Workplace” or “Out and Proud in the Workplace” without rolling my eyes and feeling pity for those involved.
If your husband is grounded in your shared principles, you’ve got nothing to worry about.
