I’ve been an active protestant all my life, but I’ve never gone to an actual protestant chat room or forum before. I guess it’s because I can talk to all the protestants I want through church and home. But I learned about some of these forums when I came to this website and became curious after hearing yall’s annoyed responses to them.
So I have visited a couple of these protestant sites. One of yall previously said they think people become more brazen when talking on these forums because no one knows your identity. I agree 100%. I’m so sorry for your bad experiences on those sites. In the case of being kicked out of a chat room, there’s no call for that unless you’re spouting out profanity or something, which of course you didn’t do. That situation was just handled badly, and most protestants would agree with me there. Please, please just realize that this is not the norm. Anyone can get on these forums and write whatever they want. A lot of people appear to want to debate and get on their soapbox more than have a real discussion (especially on the mentioned protestant sites). And then when yall read some of these protestant posts, yall get a bad opinion of us (I would too) and everyone gets in a huff and nothing is accomplished either way.
It seems to me a lot of people want to just point the finger down at whoever and say “You’re wrong, I’m right!” without actually getting down to the facts and reasons for the differences between what Catholics and protestants. This goes for both sides.
But I must say, this forum handles itself much much better than the protestant ones you have mentioned. I think I need to go search out a good protestant forum that is willing to have a discussion and tell yall about it so maybe there can be some good discussions between Cathlics and protestants without all the mudslinging.
Anyways, I’ll get off my soapbox now. I just want yall to know we’re not all like that 🙂 Have a great day!
So very true. Thank you for the reminder.

I can certainly resonate with that! The same is true of forums. Here is a notice that I have had to post in some form or another on several threads.

CAF in no way encourages “board swarming”.

Do not, repeat, DO NOT, post links to that forum on this thread or I will be forced to close and pull it.

If you do not appreciate anti-Catholics swarming us here at CAF then consider how they will feel and how they will react if a bunch of you swarm them there. The result is often a “board war” and creates a moderation nightmare as well as doing no one any good.

Luke 6:31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.

Matthew 7:12 All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets.

Amen, and thank you for reminding us of that. The purpose of my post we certainly not to have Catholics go to that site and egg anyone on. We are called to imitate Christ. If Jesus went to any chat room He would be civil, polite and charitable. Also, we are not supposed to try and “convert” our Protestant brothers and sisters.

I certainly hope no one took this as an advantage to start arguments.

Would Jesus really go to a chat room? 😃 And if He did woud He go to a Catholic one or a Protestant one? Maybe He would go to a Jewish one. What would He say? What would His signature be? Would He have a user name or just call Himself Jesus?

Yes, Jesus would go to a chat room.

He would go to the Jewish chat rooms, then his followers would go to the other chat rooms.

He would say “go in peace, your faith has made you well.”

His user name would be “I AM”

His signature would be “Listen to what my mom said.”

I am truly impressed with this answer as I was really just being impish with my post.

Hmmm. I was being impish with my answer.

Actually I think Jesus would probably go to an atheist or occult website. If he didn’t mind eating and drinking with classic “evil” people, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind spending a few minutes typing to them.
