this is a law targeted at law abiding citizens. Criminals will not obtain a license.

this is a law targeted at law abiding citizens.
And one that will disproportionately effect minority groups. It’s the kind of law you’d expect from a white supremacist like Trump, but fortunately, Trump is just incompetent at this whole white supremacist/white nationalist thing I’m reliably told he supports.

Funny how some things change, and some things don’t!
Temporal proximity to the Watts Riots of 1965 in which over 30 people died, thousands more were injured, and millions in property was destroyed probably had something to do with the reaction. Fortunately, the NRA came back to their senses and was opposing gun restrictions proposed in the wake of the 1992 Rodney King riots.
And in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Booker Introduces Bill Requiring Gun Owners to Obtain 5-Year Federal License – PJ Media

When you propose requiring an ID to vote, you’re accused of trying to prevent minorities from voting. Shouldn’t Booker’s bill have the same result, preventing minorities from exercising their 2nd amendment rights? Why aren’t the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton calling Booker out for his blatantly racist proposal?
It is ultimately a plan for confiscation. That said, they already lost one recent round of trying to prevent law abiding blacks in the cities from exercising their second amendment rights when they lost the MacDonald decision.

Yes the racist roots of open Cary ban. However I can say that the racist roots where applied evenly and it affected every person, no matter the color.

Intriguing that someone can look at events from 1965 and speculate that they might have had an impact on decisions made in 1966?
Even more intriguing is that with this reasoning, the entire Constitution, and Bill of Rights (including the 2nd Amendment) would be irrelevant today because the Constitution was ratified in 1787 and therefore it could hardly have impact on decisions made 232 years later.

Ultimately, of course…that was my point…the NRA and the Republican party were responsible for the drafting, support, and passage of the Mulford Act without thinking it through, and their actions, and not the thoughts of Liberals did it!

You are correct. The Mulford Act was misguided, and poorly thought through.
On the other hand, the plans of Beto and other progressives to confiscate firearms, specifically targeting millions of law abiding citizens is well thought out, in the same way it was thought out by socialist tyrants in the 20th century.

I thought it was rampaging white MAGA hat wearers trolling the streets with nooses?
Depends on the location. I’m not allowed to say how/where because I will get a community flag.

Needless to say, in my surrounding neighborhood, we have an eclectic mix of people, even though some parts are predominantly black. The local government once welcomed confederate flag bearers to drive through our area one Sunday. It was 45 minutes of rebel flags cascading through the main thoroughfares on trucks and motorcycles. We took that as a sign that we better know and stay in our place.

However, there are some parts of the larger community where black folk are not welcome to tread (Latinos as well, unless they are working). Needless to say, rebel flags do not cascade through those areas either. But there are a number of MAGA hats, some whose owners don’t believe in nooses, but rather who might invoke “stand your ground”.

Well, I was not happy with the NRAs laissez-faire approach to Philando Castile’s shooting. (RIP) I plan on getting my conceal-carry permit for a gun I inherited. I want to have my permit before I bring the gun to my home. I was hesitant to join the NRA because they don’t appear to support the 2nd amendment for citizens across the board. I’ll look into a NAAGA membership.

Thanks for posting the article.

Do you really think Beto is going to be the nominee…until GOP voter better focus, instead of slaying windmills, its going to be a tough go.

Oh, goodness no, he won’t be the nominee, but even Biden has voiced the same intention.
