Hey yall. What do yall think of the black hebrew israelites. I know very little about them, are they racists? What is their origin and how can we refute them? Like if im not black can i become a black hebrew israelite. (Not that i want to)

Try again and proofread. I commit enough typos myself, but you have so many here that I can’t even understand what you are saying/asking.

And, yes, there are African Jews. Some are still in Africa and some live in Israel after fleeing persecution.

I do understand your question as I can figure out the typo problem. My answer would be, ask a Rabbi? I’m not sure a forum for Roman Catholics is the best place for your question.

They are on cable access TV here in Pittsburgh, and have also been condemned by the SPLC as “racist”.

I don’t think so, although they are a bit “out there”. I’m sure that they can accept anyone they like as members, who is to tell them they can’t? Even if they have a rule against white members, I’m sure they can see fit to see whomever they want whatever way they want. I’m a white guy, and the “DNA analysis” came back and said I was 0.2% subsaharan African.

First, I’d be careful with terminology. The Black Israelites I suspect you’re referring to are a weirdo cult of African-Americans who claim to be biologically descended from the Twelve Tribes, and who mostly owe about as much to Judaism as the Five Percenters owe to seventh-century Islam (though over time, a few branches have veered towards more/less traditional Judaism).

Now, there are actual, literal “black hebrew israelites,” such as the numerous Ethiopian Jews who have relocated to Israel, as well as a non-zero number of North African Jews. I trust you’re not referring to them!

I think they’re a bunch of deluded, heretical, Judaizing buffoons.

Also, many of them are hardcore racists - go to some of their YT videos and look at the comments they make - many of them don’t mince words in wishing death upon all “white devils, crackers and honkeys.”

Good group of hate filled heretics to stay far away from.

I have experience interacting with people in this movement.

I concur with the SPLC - the BHI movement is a movement built on hardcore, virulent racism.

They say Jesus was black. How can we explain that we can’t really know exactly what he was and if anything would probably look middle eastern

Try searching online for a Louis Theroux programme in which he visits some Black Hebrew Israelites. Louis Theroux seeks out weird subjects and these people are definitely among the weirdest he’s ever done. It’s been years since I watched it, but I seem to remember they had a painting of John Paul II being trampled under a horse. They also tried to convince him that Beethoven was black. Actually they claim that quite a lot of people were actually black, including English monarchs and Welsh crooner Sir Tom Jones.

We have some of these people here in London too. They sometimes gather outside Oxford Circus or Elephant and Castle tube stations to spread the word about the Twelve Tribes of Israel and how most of them are black. Some of them claim also that the Irish are descendants of the biblical Israelites. I know that a not insignificant minority of black people claim that almost everybody of note in ancient history was black. It’s actually not so weird when you consider that in the 19th century there was a widespread view that the British were descended from the Israelites. This is apparently why male royals were circumcised from the time of Queen Victoria until the late 20th century when the Princess of Wales is said to have put an end to the practice.

Are they racist? Probably, albeit in an almost touchingly bizarre way. How can we refute them? Honestly, I don’t know whether it’s worth the effort! If you do want to refute them you need to educate yourself pretty thoroughly about ancient Near Eastern/Mediterranean history so you can explain why it’s unlikely that black people are descended from Jews, Egyptians, and so on, as well as why it’s unlikely that Celts, Anglo-Saxons, and Germans are actually black, despite clearly not being black.

No it does not matter if hes black or not.like i said above “we cant really know exactly”…i dont care if he was black or not…i just want to prove that we cant know 100% for sure what he was. (Or can we?)

I look at the same thing, and see it a bit different. A lot of African Americans are looking for their roots, and a few of them just see themselves as “black hebrews” as it provides answers to their questions. I just don’t feel a lot of hate, more like confusion and trying to make sense of from whence they came. I see the BHI movement as analogous to Moorish Science, the NOI and NOGE muslims and there are other groups as well.

Ok so are the only people that are jewish black? You say read the bible… Can you reference where in the bible i can find more info?

Read the entire old testament and you will see that his whole family line is Jewish. Even in the new testament he comes to his own people and they kill him, which is the jews (you know… olive brown skin, look kinda like the arabs speak hebrew, always being bombed by resentful vindictive arabs) them Jews.

I’ve had a few run-ins with the BHI. They stand in front of the train station in my former neighborhood. Their teachings are pretty incoherent, they’re antisemitic because they believe the Jews are fake and that they are the real chosen people.

In this picture, the guy looking at the camera is saying “This cat right here! He thinks he’s Jewish, but he’s a fraud!”

I responded, “I’m a Catholic.”

“See,” he said. “That’s another problem we got!”

One interesting thing about them that I agree with is their stance against abortion. I don’t know if they are legitimately pro-life, but they take issue with the abortion industry’s goal to reduce the black population. They are very much against Planned Parenthood.
