A group of over 100 Black male leaders is declaring that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden “has” to name a Black woman as his running mate.

Imagine if white leaders told him he better pick a white woman, so 13% of the US population can pretty much threaten a Presidential nominee who he should choose as a VP, isn’t that coercion?

Did they say “he better” or did they urge him to make that choice? The title of the thread seems inaccurate. If you read the Fox News article Biden was encouraged to vet and consider black women.

I guess black folks are allowed to urge a candidate to take some action. Why is that so offensive to folks?

I read the letter. It looks like they are saying that choosing a black woman will get him more votes , and that without the support he would get from that he will loose the election.

I see no difference between voting for someone because of a group characteristic than voting against for the same reason. They are both shallow and bigoted. How about shared values and competence instead? That would be nice.

I’ve seen a similar scenario in another show, where someone does something offensive and then goes to make an apology to an unnamed “King of All Black People.” African-Americans are not a monolithic unmarried group tied into some hive mind.

(This would be a perfect time to transition into that thing biden is apologizing for).
