Are there any other fans of both these shows? BBC’s Black mirror is a show on netflix very similar in tone to a modern day technological based Twilight zone, which just might be my favorite TV show of all time. Very well written, haunting and disturbing at times but great and I recommend it this Halloween weekend.

Black Mirror is both disturbing and thought-provoking. It really makes you think “That couldn’t happen” - and then you think “but hang on, we’re not far off that now”. It’s scary.

Yeah! I’ve been basically building up my tolerance to extreme filth via the most toxic Netflix comedies one can imagine. Mostly British ones, but I guess it runs the gamut. But the British ones seem to be “best.” 🤷 Anyway, I haven’t actually yet seen the early episodes of Black Mirror, but I’ve watched a few episodes of season three, and I have to admit that I laughed really, really hard after the episode called “Shut Up And Dance.” Which undoubtedly says something horrible about me. And that’s despite the filthy, idiotic jabs at the Pope and the Church which were scripted in such a way as to appear offhanded. I think I might just give up Netfix’s toxicity altogether and throw it all away soon. 🤷 I’m sure it’s having quite a negative effect on me, because I’m very weak in that sense, and I’m highly susceptible to that particular type of black humor.

I really enjoy the Twilight Zone. I am finishing up season one and wow, it has been really good. I just watched the one with the burglar who got shot in a police shootout only to wake up to the “angel” in white where all his wishes are met…Wont give any more a way, great episode.

Have not seen Black Mirror but may check it out if its not gory, violent, or sexualized. Actually after seeing that Black Mirror jabs at the Pope and the Church, I’d rather pass.

I absolutely adore the Twilight Zone. My dad got me hooked on that when I was growing up and it started running in syndication on a channel that we got when we got cable. So many great stories (my favorite, but also probably the most nightmarish to me, since I’m also extremely nearsighted, would be Time Enough at Last).

I will have to check that one out, what Season is it?

My other favorite besides “A Nice Place to Visit” is season 1 episode 2, " One For the Angels."

Season 1, Episode 8

It’s really hard to come up with a list of bad episodes, to be honest. It’s just thought-provoking, and not just creepy for the sake of creepiness.

This is just for “Shut Up and Dance” right? I’m assuming that the other episodes (which some of them, but not all of them, I’m planning to watch) are clear of anti-Catholic blurbs…
Yeah there maybe some “filth” here and there… but I’ve acquired immunity to these kinds of things* way* before you…

Ohh yes I have seen that one, pretty good. I just finished season 1 episode episode 32 A Passage for a Trumpet and episode 33 Mr.Bevis and they were phenomenal. Great moral lessons learned, the use of angels, great acting, not gory or sexualized. It’s a shame they don’t have shows like this anymore. I wonder if the other seasons of the Twilight Zone are as good as this first has been?

Oh sorry, I forgot all about this thread. :o But yeah, I think that was the only one that had anti-Catholic dialogue and innuendo. The story arc of that episode was quite funny, in my opinion, but overall I think the very best one was number five, titled Men Against Fire. The ideas in that one will almost certainly materialize at some point in the future, provided the species survives that long. There was some pornography in that episode though, so I guess there’s just no winning. It’s not really a bad series, but there is definitely objectionable stuff in each episode. I haven’t seen the first two seasons, so maybe they’re a little different.🤷
