Blair to meet SF leader over raid

Demands for the Provisional IRA to cease all paramilitary and criminal activity will be reiterated by the prime minister this week.
Tony Blair is to hold talks with Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams at Chequers on Thursday.
The meeting is to be held away from Downing Street following government claims that the IRA was behind last month’s £26.5m bank raid in Belfast.
Republicans continue to deny involvement in the robbery. Mr Blair’s official spokesman said: "The message (to Mr Adams) is very simple. It is that there can be no deal with republicans unless all activity, paramilitary and criminal, stops. Period. That’s it. “In terms of the way forward with the taoiseach, he is going to have his own meeting with Sinn Fein. The two prime ministers will compare notes and also talk about the positions of the other parties as well.”
