I would caution people as they start to consider this year’s elections and the next presidential election. There are some websites that can be quite deceptive in nature. For instance, one site that presents itself as pro-life and conservative is in fact, very Anti-Catholic and anti-catholic doctrinally. To the extreme. If any of you are up on your scripture, doctrine and apologetics you may want to visit to “Defend the Faith.” The website I’m referring to is called: theamericanview.com If you go and feel the need to Defend our Faith, you must click on AMVIEW to view the forum discussions.

As Father Corapi says, the Rosary is your best weapon when involved in spiritual warfare. Take it along. 👍

This seems to be the “elephant” in the room that no one wants to talk about…

I’ve never heard of The American View before. I know some pro-life/conservative organizations most certainly have a protestant/fundementalist flavor. However, I’m not aware of any anti-Catholic bias in the organizations with which I am familiar. But you are right, we should all be careful of who we are supporting.

A couple of years ago I was trying really hard to be the best “Pro-Life” Catholic that I could be and vote responsibly. I was unhappy that the Republicans weren’t doing enough, and I was completely unhappy that the Demoncrats belittle the pro-life movement and their platform is pro-abortion. So I was in search of a political party closer to my Catholic leanings. Then I found the Constitution Party. It’s 2004 candidate, Michael Peroutka, I thought was a Catholic and he had very strong pro-life views. In fact the whole party is extremely pro-life. I did wonder why most Catholics didn’t pick up on this and run to change party affliation.

The Constitution Party’s website is theamericanview.com. Apparently it is run by Scott Whiteman, Mr. Peroutka’s campaign manager 2004. After posting on this site for more than 6 months I realized that they had a “definite” view but I wouldn’t classify it as an “American” view. They go all the way back to colonial times and believe the American view is the Colonial view. It is very strong protestant Reformism hard core. And, they make no bones about it.

One day, I made the innoncent mistake of saying that “I” believed the Virgin Mary to be “immaculately conceived” and oh my gosh, the wheels just flew off their little red wagon and they couldn’t deal with it. Suddenly, I was a “pagan” and I belonged to the “whore of Babylon” religion and I think one guy would have called for a lyching if it hadn’t already been outlawed.

These people are not playing with a full deck. However, Scott Whiteman did go out of his way to say that “theamericanview.com” does not represent the Constitution Party and vice versa.

Well, I find that extremely strange for a campaign manager to say about the candidate that he works for. A small child could see the incongruenty.

Nevertheless, Michael Peroutka himself, who did post a few times failed to defend the Catholic faith, OR anyone on this site persecuting the Catholics posting. He was silent for the most part. Others on the site were saying that he had become a Reformist, but that he was “struggling” spiritually. I personally believe that was the Grace of God, calling him home to Mother Church and not to get caught up in this wayward sect.

Please keep him in your prayers, particularly the Rosary, his coming “Home” may all be in God’s plans and for the future of this Country.

Peace,
Brenda

Also, I tried “soft” apologetics like offering them Scott Hahn’s book, “Hail Holy Queen, the Mother of God in the Word of God” to help them understand Mary, biblically, as the new Ark of the Covenant.

This only encouraged more hissing and demands to “stop the blasphemy!” …please, wear your spiritual armor when you go, but if you think you can or “want” to reach these dissidents, Go for it!

…“AND May the Lord be with you!” 👍

Wow! What an awful situation to find yourself in! I have heard of the Constitution Party and had heard that they were very pro-life. As a reult, I did vote for one of their candidates in a local election last year. I appreciate you sharing your experience with them. I will checkout the website and keep this in mind for the next election. I don’t think they will get my vote next time around. Thanks Brenda!

Yes, I was registered as a voter with them, but I’m going to pray about where the Lord would have me register. Until Michael Peroutka, or their presidential candidate comes out publicly and states that his party allows the “free expression” of all religious viewpoints, and that, that is one of primary constitutional rights, I won’t be voting for them either.

It really is their choice, I think they’ve painted themselves into a corner having such a narrowminded view on theamericanview.com
