During a talk with people that have been friends for years, one of them made a joke about The Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, I laughed however in my mind I knew it was wrong and didnt really like any of the talk afterwards of my laugh. For the first part they were just making Christian jokes in general and I was making apologetic points about what they were saying. Is laughing at this joke blasphemy? It wasnt under my control.

What was the joke? Did it insult him or anything like that? If you didn’t mean to laugh, don’t worry about it.

I didnt want to state it since I thought it would be bad too, but the joke itself was about how Jesus on the cross before dying said “just wait 3 more da-” and then the friend pretended go have died on the cross. I couldnt really control the laugh but I knew it was wrong in my ind immediately.

I’ve seen memes about it, but I don’t think this form of the joke would be appropriate. Especially because your friend imitated the cruciform position. Don’t worry about it though.

Alright, yeah it wasnt at all and the weird part is that hes mormon. Do you think it’s worth confessing that I did laugh regardless of if I was able to stop myself?

If you feel it was a mortal sin, then go ahead and confess it.

Confess and forget about it. You will lose nothing for playing it safe.

This is where the problem starting. You let yourself be allowed into the temptation of sin. To have started to engage in that conversation was putting yourself in a situation where things could get out of hand and they did,

My advice. Next time say ‘if you would like to have a serious conversation, I can explain my point of view. But if you are going to mock my beliefs, I am leaving’. If they mock you, get up and leave. To be honest, I find it odd that you have been friends for years and this conversation happened. Anyone I am friends with would know not to do that in front of me

I don’t know about blasphemous, but it doesn’t sound even slightly funny.
