i Have OCD i get blasphemous thoughts and there has been times where i have changed my faith because of it i was born Catholic …me and my sister have now found out that we both where abused from a very young age by people who at the time has access to us when i was a teen i was also abused by a priest my sister at the time was 16 and left
i have very little memory of my childhood the people who abused me and my sister are most likely dead by now same with the priest i cant forgive them a few years after my mum and me moved to another place i stopped going to church started to look at other faith non Catholic ones i thought it was because of my abuse that i change faiths a lot but i now know its because of the OCD …i also hear and see things I mostly see angels and demons but i also hear voices that say blasphemous things as well
I have a therapist but i cant see her until the 15th of Jan am on medication for the voices and seeing things but its not helping
my thoughts and voices are scary so am listening to christian music loudly on headphones ( my husband is watching a film ) keeping myself busy i know i should pray am finding it hard to pray because me and my sister talked a few days ago about our childhood and how we cant remember thing well my sister has started having therapy and she has flashbacks of the abuse and av said somethings that my sister says she has flashbacks off
i cant go into to much detail for the first time in a long time am having problems praying
normally i would pray over and over
but at the moment am struggling with my faith
The blasphemous voices and thoughts dont help

Please put your faith in God and know that there are people praying for you. Stay strong.

Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen,” he said, “and try to understand. 11 It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
You have committed no offense unless you speak the words. 👍

I’m sorry you have had such terrible experiences in life, and with the Church, specifically. 😦

:hug1:

Glad you are on medication. Can you go back to your psychiatrist and tell him that they haven´t helped and see what can be done. In some cases, they can adjust the dosage or change the medication, but you have to go back, tell him. Medication is a very individual matter. What works for one simply won´t work for another. That´s just how it is.

Some people say they have “tried” but going once, but no. One has to keep going back till there is some relief.

As to the voices, and obsessions, in general, as long as you resist them, it can actually make them worse. Well, it´s like the saying, “What we resist will persist”.

So, till you can get in to see someone, **ignoring **the voices would be another option.

I am so sorry that had happened to you! Please remember that you’re loved by Jesus, and that these people were sinning. Please stay in the Church, I beg you! The Catholic Church was placed here by Christ, the gates of hell won’t prevail against it. When you have these blasphemous thoughts simply cast them away and think about Christ on the Cross, the five wounds that God endured for us so that we can spend an eternity with him. I had a problem with blasphemous thoughts, it was tough, but prayer and reminders of the love that Christ has for us helped a ton. St. John Vianny said that after a fall, we should stand up right away. I highly recommend confession, ask a preist to help, make an appointment. Please remember that you’re loved! May God be with you and may we all accept Christ into our hearts, through his Church.

You’re loved! All the love we possess, which can move mountains, isn’t more than the love God has for the world, which sent himself to die for us.

God bless!

I’ve had blasphemous thoughts also.

First: You don’t want offend to God, His mercy is infinite and He knows you better than you. So trust in the infinite love of God for you. We cannot imagine how God love us!

Two: The only cure is just when you have those thoughts raise to God a deeply and humble worship. Automaticly an involuntary offense is changed and cleansed in adoration that pleases God. Just imagine how happy will He feel!

Praying for you! If you can, try to offer it up and unite this suffering with our Lord’s. Your cross is a particularly cruel and heavy one to bear. I’m sorry that others have hurt you.

May Mother Mary enclose you in her mantle, keep you safe and present you to Jesus for healing. May Jesus in His infinite mercy soothe and comfort you and give you His Peace.

Can you give us a little more, to help me round up my :twocents: ?

What kind of things are the voices saying?

Maybe they are just questions wanting to be answered? Or are they more destructive?

Maybe they want to be heard, so that they can be debunked?

Do they tell you to do things, or to be afraid of things, or to distrust someone you should trust or vice versa?

Or do they accuse and blame you of things that aren’t your fault – or they maybe were kind of but not really and you are feeling the Full Guilt Trip?

If they don’t mind your quoting or summarizing them here, this would help bring this darkness out into the light where we can see it and help you with it. If it hurts to retype them, I understand. They may be less scary though if you let them come through, than if you try to hold them back from now until the time you can get more personal help IRL.

If you can give us some idea even what aspects of your faith are being challenged, maybe even a few random ideas from others will help your own mind relax a little bit and give it a couple extra tools to try and negotiate a more peaceful arrangement with the voices.

Hang in there. Feel free to PM me any time if you think it could help. 🙂

i dont want to swear here but they say things that Jesus ******* his mother and other things i cant repeat ( i dont want to upset anyone here ) they say that the priest that abused me is coming for me that am evil
i hear many voices some with in and some out with my head
my Therapist says they are caused by stress right now is a stressful time of year
i dont cope with stress well i bottle things up and i worry about things a lot like the future my family and other worries
i have an eating disorder as well and today i have been fasting they tell me not to eat
that only water , tea , coffee and broth is allowed no food until am a good person again
am never a good person am evil like the voices say i am they blame me for my step dads death ( he killed himself) i blame myself for that too they tell me to kill myself as well
my husband has to lock away the meds so i dont Overdose on them
i also self injure but i havent done that for 3 months because my husband will not let me buy blades and i have none left ( there are knifes in the house and my husband has caught me about to cut a few times )

some times i think that Jesus isnt the son of God some times i believe that he is a holy man and was kind to everyone he died on the cross then he rose from the dead because he was so holy i also believe in the after life that people get reincarnated into animals or another human life when i think about it i realized that we are all born again through Jesus maybe that is what reincarnation is

sorry if i didnt answer all of your questions …and sorry if my spelling and grammar is bad
thank you

No, you answered just great. I am glad you have your husband to help you. It takes strength and commitment to do that, as you no doubt recognize. 👍

I was tormented by some terrible thoughts. I don’t hear voices; I just get runaway thought trains that can become very emotional or fearful. My wife has heard voices so I know how hard it is to concentrate with them going.

What I’ve learned is that fighting them or thinking that you have to “control” them can backfire. They can rise in intensity to beat your best distraction or attempt to suppress.

So what I do is find a place where I feel safe. Like during Mass works for me. I’m surrounded by loved ones and there is a man of God right there, and this is a hospital for sinners. So if you feel safe, try just “stepping back” as if pulling back away from a movie screen and trying to listen to them without feeling like the recipient/interpreter.

So like even during the consecration, my thoughts may run away with all sorts of terrible things that the priest might be thinking or doing, or that an earthquake could happen, anything. That’s when I know I can just breathe easily, and let go and after the first few times they lost a lot of pressure so it got easier, and it helped me “vent” that way. For me, I felt safe other places like when I’m at home alone lying down and get odd thoughts, so during Mass was only one place. The main thing is that I think what if I get really confused for a minute? Am I going to fall down or do something harmful or embarrassing if I kind of space out for a second, and will that even happen?

You have to learn how your own mind works; just for me I had to let the little bear cubs of competing ideas, wrestle without trying to break them up so much, and they finally got out their aggression and calmed down.
