What is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit as mentioned in the following verses?:
Mar 3:29 DRB But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.
Luk 12:10 DRB And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven.
I have read that it was only possible for the people in Jesus’ day to commit this sin but I do not know if that is true or not. I have also heard that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is basically rejecting the Holy Spirit’s pull on our hearts throughout our entire life and even in the face of death.
Also, if it is possible for a modern Catholic/Christian to commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, can it be forgiven? If a non-Christian commits blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and then gets baptized, will he/she be forgiven?
I am really confused about what exactly blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is and would greatly appreciate any help you all can give me.
