This thread is for Eastern Orthodox members. In a conversation with a Russian Orthodox priest (Patriarch of Moscow), he told me he was not allowed to communicate a woman who was menstrating or any person who had a cut or wound and was actively bleeding. The reason was that it is believed that when you receive the blood of Christ it would pass through the open wound or through the menstral bleeding and be lost. I don’t know if this is just a Russian Church understanding or is this a universal practice in the Eastern Church. Any comments from Eastern Orthodox members are welcome so that I may understand the truth of this matter in your Church.
