Hey whats your opinions about maria statues that are crying or bleeding is it fact or fiction? One scientist claimed he could reproduce the event easily and it wouldn’t be that hard to fake it. He said the statue would have to be hollow from the inside and then filled with blood or a substance to replicate tears.

This also has happened to paintings of Maria, but scientists are unable to offer a scientific reason yet how this happens or how someone could fake it happening.

The next time a statue or painting of maria starts bleeding they should do a DNA analysis on the blood to test if its animal blood or human and to find out detail genetic information about the blood.

True miracles usually defy scientific categorization.

I know in the case of weeping or myrrh-streaming icons, FIRST exorcisms are read over them. If they stop. you have your answer.

Miracles occur, but you have to be really careful. I visited a so-called “Orthodox” monastery to see a so-called “weeping icon” of Mary that was getting a lot of press a number of years ago. It was said to weep rose-scented tears and the rose scent was supposed to be proof of its Marian authenticity. The Abbot was holding forth, pontificating in the gift shop to each and all. They went through a big production of making the women visitors put on scarves and long skirts over slacks and jeans. There was quite a long line of visitors. You couldn’t get too close to the enclosed podium on which the icon sat, and the fact that it was enclosed made me suspicious. All manner of tubing could have been hidden up in there. And sure enough, a few years later I read an article about the Abbot and his assistant having been indicted for a long history of real estate and other kinds of fraud. Seems he was self-ordained. They didn’t charge to see the icon, of course, but they accepted donations and sold lots of books, crucifixes and icons. I don’t doubt that those things actually do happen sometimes, but they’re not necessary for faith so I tend to steer clear of them now.

Some may be true, others may be false. I will not dismiss them all as false nor hold them all up as miraculous.

Seems he was self-ordained.

I personally knew the person to whom you are referring. He was ordained a priest by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (sometimes called ROC Outside Russia or The Synod).

if you want some interesting reading…google…scientific study or research of Our Lady of Guadalupe painting…(spell check on Guadalupe)

Re the “weeping icon” priest having been self-ordained, that’s what the press said at the time (approx. 13 years ago?) If we’re talking about the same person / incident, I stand corrected and apologize for repeating something I couldn’t back up.
