Bless God or God blesses?

I’m stuck on this: can we bless God? or is it only the other way around?
Hebrews 7:7 “But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.”

1 Chronicles 29:20 “Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless the LORD your God.” And all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed low and did homage to the LORD and to the king”

It’s a difference in the manner in which the word “blessing” is used. There are several other Scripture passages we can find that refer to our “blessing God.”
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, thou art very great (Psalm 104:1)!
With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brethren, this ought not to be so (James 3:9-10).
In Latin, the word is benedīcere (think benedictus), which means “to speak well of.” So, when we give blessing to God or “bless His name,” we’re speaking well of Him and praising Him.
