Bless God?

How could we bless God? It sound disrespectful .
We are the ones to be bless by Him not the other way around .
The same thing disturb me when I said “I offer you the body, blood, soul and …”
How could I offer Him to God?

Why was this a song of blessings? What exactly does it mean to bless? I’m interested in the answer myself.

I think when it says bless God, it means praise Him. A common praise phrase like “blessed be the name of the LORD” can be restated “praise His holy name”. That’s my opinion.

It brings to mind for me the psalms like Psalm 103 *“Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.” *
In this sense it means praise the Lord, praise God.

Just my thoughts…

In English, blessed (pronounced blest) can mean being granted divine favor or (pronounced bless-ed) it can mean being worthy of reverence or adoration.

That is why we can be blessed (blest) and God can be blessed (bless-ed). Mary is both!

It would be interesting to know the greek and hebrew behind each, to see if they are different words.

It reminds me of the Divine Praises…
