many of you probably saw my purity thread. i was just wondering when the beatitude says “Blessed are the pure of heart” if you have done some things impure, is your heart not considered pure, even after confession

If what you’re asking is can purity of heart be regained, the answer is yes. This can be difficult however, given that even when we are clean before God, we tend to recall our sinful nature and particularly our past and past deeds. So even if we are pure of heart, it’s an uphill battle to stay that way, especially for those who have fallen before and know what it feels like to be unclean.
Sometimes it’s a matter of forgiving yourself when responding to God’s call to be pure of heart. If you’re doing right by God and yourself, why should it ever be too late? God can always restore what is broken and renew what sin has undone.

Afterall, it’s not as if Jesus was saying you can’t be pure if you’re not always pure, or you can’t be counted among “the pure of heart” if that wasn’t always the case and you’ve slipped up before. Jesus doesn’t give us absolutes like that in regards to his desire to draw us to him, his graces and his virtues. He gives them to us if we are open, ready, well disposed, and receptive to them. When he calls us to do something or to live or behave a certain way, he doesn’t do it with conditions or exclude anybody on some technicality, especially when he knows how weak we are without him and so susceptible to sin in the first place.
We are all the more blessed BECAUSE we struggle against our sin nature. This pleases God, as we are attempting to be pure of heart, and it’s only through Him that it’s possible. The pure of heart are blessed because of Him, not because of themselves, and as a result, require union with Him to maintain that purity of heart, for without it, we are left to our own human effort, which will ultimately falter without His help, protection, and love.
