Wow … Followed your link, scrolled down the page, and came across a picture depicting Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha as the “Lily of the Mohawks” complete with a nice tall day lily beside her.
The fascinating thing is that yesterday I took a nature walk and spent a lot of time photographing day lilies. Also, I happen to be part Iroquois … Seneca, to be specific, though just a little Native American blood in my heritage.
The Mohawk were known among the Iroquois as the Keepers of the Eastern Door, while the Seneca were Keepers of the Western Door.

Amazing Phoenix! I am also part Iroquois… SENECA! As such, have always had an interest in Blessed Kateri’s life and spirituality. Maybe somewhere, waaaaaaaaay back… we come from the same family! Wouldn’t that be amazing. Small world, eh?
