If there is a couple, wife is protestant, husband is catholic and husband does not pratice his faith and decideds to get married by a protestant minister, and not in the catholic church, then lives together and has two kids, and now wife wants to become catholic and baptize children and get married in the church, what do they do.

can they baptize children before they get married in the church?

can they get married in the church before she finishes rcia, she will probobly have to get conditionally baptized becouse she has no documents.

can they continue living together with thier children before being married in the church?

can they take part in relations before married in the church?

They need to go see a priest. The Husband needs to go to confession. They need to start attending Mass every Sunday and other day of obligation. They also need to start living the Catholic faith to the best of their ability. They need to stop living as husband and wife for a time. Not necessarily out of the house but separate beds possibly. So, no, no relations. That would be fornication since they aren’t married. Priest will need to know if there were any other marriages. If there weren’t then the marriage can be convalidated as soon as the husband goes to confession. Wife will need to go to RCIA as was mentioned. Children can be baptized according to the churches instructions which depend upon their ages.

They make an appointment with their priest to discuss their situation.

In general, yes. But there may be some discussion since the husband is not practicing.

Yes, the couple can convalidate or sanate their marriage prior to the wife being received into the Church. In fact, the convalidation needs to come first.

As to conditional baptism, this would be a last resort if no documentation and no affidavit from a witness (including the wife herself) could be obtained. So, it depends upon whether or not there are any witnesses, not necessarily on a baptismal certificate or other document.

Yes.
can they take part in relations before married in the church?
That is something they should discuss with their priest. In general, the answer is no.

This assumes the husband wants to resume the practice of the faith. There are options for the wife even if the husband does not.

Just so i get this right…

so the convalidation can take place right after
proper confession by husband?..

so they dont wait for her to be recieved fully in the curch?

and seperate beds from present till convalidation

Again, you need to talk to the priest. If the husband wants to return to the Church, he needs to go to Confession and the couple needs to meet with the priest. There is some required paperwork, meetings with the priest, etc. The requirements vary by diocese, so the priest will outline what needs to be done and how long convalidation or sanation will take.

No. The convalidation needs to come first.
and seperate beds from present till convalidation
Again, a topic to discuss with your priest.

Thanks be to God for your answers…

What do i tell the couple reguarding there marriage my understanding is that they have no marriage sacrament, only civil approval

Is my understanding right, that protestant faiths dont perform the sacrament of holy matrimony?

It’s not your place to tell them anything. You simply encourage them to make an appointment with their priest.

This is not true. Non-Catholics validly marry when they marry each other. If they are both baptized, the marriage is a sacrament. The unbaptized have valid natural marriages. If neither party is Catholic, they are not bound by Church law on the form of marriage.

When one or both parties in the marriage are Catholic, they must follow the Church’s laws on marriage in order to marry validly.

And what if husband refuses to make a confession…

Can priest agree to validly marry them?

Would there be a valid marriage?

If so wouldnt it be a sacralige upon the couple and priest?

And if priest does agree to mary them anyway, how can I help them?

Already answered that. See above. There are options the wife should discuss with a priest.

Already answered this too. Yes, they can validly marry.

If you want to help them, tell either the couple or the woman who wants to be a Catholic to make an appointment with the local parish priest. The **priest **will help her.
And if priest does agree to mary them anyway, how can I help them?
You don’t. It’s not your business and you are not qualified to do so. Direct them to the priest.

they go to their parish priest and follow his advice on timing of sacraments for them and their children.

If either or both have never been properly catechized in the Catholic faith, they attend the appropriate class or program for their needs.

If the children are under age 7 they are baptized as soon as possible, If they are over 7 they join RCIA for children and are fully initiated at Easter when they have been properly prepared for all 3 sacraments, baptism, Confirmation and 1st communion.

you can best help them by encouraging the party who is now responding to the Holy Spirit to visit her priest ASAP. You could also act as sponsor for initiation sacraments for them and the children, if necessary. yes there are options if one spouse refuses to convalidate the marriage, but this can be discussed only with the other spouse and the priest. Yes the marriage will have to be convalidated or sanated before either is admitted to the other sacraments. Only the priest can advise on the timing and preparation for this.

Deo Gratias

I understand the replys completely.

I sometimes just have a difficult time agreeing with Priests who continue to allow unmaried couples to have relations and not have the couple {in this case the husband} make good confessions before marrying them. I always thought recieving a sacrament in mortal sin was always a sacralige.
