Dear Friends,
This is a bit of an update on the WYD events for you. As some of you might have seen on EWTN the pope had a motorcade through Sydney late yesterday afternoon and a wonderful boat trip on Sydney harbour. He really enjoyed himself from what I could tell. We have had extensive coverage in the media on everything that he has done.

One of the things that he did yesterday was visit the tomb of Blessed Mary MacKillop the founder of the Sister of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart who died in Sydney on August 8, 1909. There was great hope that the pope would announce that she would be canonized. He said that this will happen when a miracle is confirmed. The Sister of St Joseph have sent what they think is a watertight case to Rome; the healing of a woman from inoperable lung cancer. Perhaps the Vatican is still considering this case. I have often visited this shrine. It is an hour travel by train from where I live in the outer western suburbs. Blessed Mary MacKillop has answered some prayers for me. I have put a couple of them up on this link:

Now for something special: My daughter Julie who is 25 years of age made no attempts to go to anything connected with World Youth Day, however she decided to let God get her to the final closing Mass with Pope Benedict for this Sunday if He wanted her there. Against all the odds, one of the people that she works with gave her two expensive tickets for the Mass, (one for her and one for myself).

No one actually needs a ticket to go to this Mass but with the large crowds that are involved a ticket guarantees a place at the Mass. This was truly providential. I do not know of anyone else that this has happened to.

Greetings and prayers for all your intentions,

Mary Ann
