Many blessings are reserved for items used in liturgical worship, including musical instruments (such as a pipe organ). However other blessings abound for such things as ships, railroads, pets and so forth that have no place in liturgical worship. I think there is not a problem with a blessing of your instrument but it is very simple to resolve - just ask you priest if such a blessing is appriopriate.
