I did not know where to put this question but I hope it is in the right place.

My neighbor, who is orthodox but she is cool with the Roman church and even goes to Mass at a Roman Catholic church, gave me some oil that she claims comes from the holy Land. I asked if it was blessed by a Bishop and she told me it was. I’m just wondering what others think of this. Is it common? I am a Protestant convert and I know lots of oils and sand and stuff from the holy Land is something that was big in the type of protestantism I came from but I am not sure what to make if it in The Catholic Church.

What do others think? Anyone own any oil annointed by a Bishop or priest?

I have blessed oil from the Holy Land. It came with blessed soil from Jerusalem and holy water from the river Jordan. I got it from a Carmelite shrine. It’s pretty common where I live, but that might be just because of the Shrine.

Trust your friend - if it’s blessed by a bishop, Roman or Orthodox, it’s still blessed. It’s holy.
