Blessed palms and ants

So I have some dried blessed palm leaves from Palm Sunday. Unfortunately they seem to have attracted ants. I’m not entirely sure what the proper procedure from here is? Obviously I would like to keep my palm fronds, but I would rather not keep the ants too.

Spray the palms with mint or orange oil. Keeps the critters away.

You can return the dried palms to your parish and they will use them to make the ash for Ash Wednesday.

Just curious - what kind of ant would be attracted to dried palm fronds? Could something that ants are fond of been spilled on the palms?

It’s early days to take them to your parish (the palms, not the ants - tho if they converted maybe they would say a prayer before chomping on the palms? ), so just burn them in your fireplace or backyard. If you don’t have those, cut them up, put them in a coffee can & burn them.

You can burn or bury blessed items (such as palms). But you might try the other suggestions about repelling the ants if you want to keep the palms. I had to put out some ant bait traps, and I sprayed all around the outside of my house. That seems to have scared them off from coming inside anymore.
