I put a drop in my daughters water that she takes to school and every morning I put a little in my and I’s coffee.

Oh good. A fellow from church told me to never put plastic water bottles in the fridge because the plastic seeps into the water.

the standard bottles also seep from heat, and also in general.

and the replacement (BHP free?) apparently have something else . . .

doc, off to find his garden hose

Is there a link to explain Theophany and the sanctified water in the eastern church I could read? Thank you very much.

Beautiful. What a special tradition and gift from our Eastern Church. Very helpful link shared, thank you.

try searching
“theophany water” “holy water” difference site:byzcath.org
You’ll probably find more (and better) explanations there than here. (and we’ll be glad to see you when you surface again in a couple of days 🤣)

the short oversimplification is that Holy Water is blessed, while Theophany water is sanctified or consecrated (there is actually an epiclesis!). Beyond that, I’ll defer to those that are far more knowledgeable

I must admit as a Latin rite Catholic I am having a wishing heart. If I had had an opportunity to go to the Divine Liturgy of the blessed Theophany I might have a bottle of sanctified water. 😇 Will do some research like you suggested.

Next year, it should be on a Tuesday. You get 360 days to plan 🤣

Denise’s link should be helpful, too, and I’d start there. And when you hit a byzcath thread that goes over your head, just bookmark it and go on. (Seriously–some of them are theology professors, theologians and liturgists!)

There are some Eastern Catholic Churches that are on the Julian Calendar. They will celebrate Theophany and sanctify the water on January 19.

My ROCOR Spiritual Father likes to say that “The ROCOR Churches are on the Orthodox Calendar… And what calendar does YOUR Orthodox Church follow??” Perhaps a little dramatic, but never without a twinkle…

I tried going on to byzcath and it’s practically all member forums just like CAF. Is a CAF member also a member of byzcath? If so, why can’t I read anything?

my response would be, "the one that usually puts Pascha on the day specified by Nicea’, but . . .

😱 🤣

(and last year both calendars missed! 😱 😱)

Actually, it’s always baffled me that that the EO and RCC are on the sides of this that they are; I’d expect each to be on the other side . . .

No, it’s not part of CAF; you will need to create an account there.

You should, though, be able to read the forum without an account (but an account will keep track of what you’ve read, like here)

They are totally separate forums. They used to be very active, but it dropped off rather suddenly a few years ago. The archives are amazing, though. Some extremely brilliant and highly educated posters there, both clergy and lay, Orthodox and Catholic.

I really do miss Byzcath.

I tried signing up for Byzcath several times, but I never got a confirmation email. This was years ago.

go ahead and try again. If it doesn’t work, I’ll PM a moderator there for you.
