The Virgin Mary is a blue eyed teenage girl that appears taller than she is because she stands on a cloud.

That is according to a new book that has carried out exclusive interviews with the the visionaries of Medjugorje, who first saw her 30 years ago this year when they were schoolchildren.

Fatima? No Baby Jesus

Lucia, Francisco & Jacinta

During World War I Pope Benedict XV made repeated but forlorn pleas for peace, and finally, in May 1917, made a direct appeal to Mary to intercede for peace in the world. The response was Mary’s first appearance at Fatima just over a week later. At this time Fatima was just a small village about seventy miles north of Lisbon; the three children to whom she appeared were Lucia dos Santos, aged ten, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto, brother and sister, aged eight and seven respectively.
The Angel of Portugal

However, it was in the spring of the previous year, 1916, that the children had their first joint supernatural encounter as a means of preparing them for their meetings with Mary. As they were looking after the sheep one day they saw a dazzlingly beautiful young man, seemingly made of light, who told them he was the Angel of Peace; he invited them to pray with him.

Later on, in the summer, the Angel again appeared to the children and encouraged them to pray and make sacrifices, as a way of drawing down peace on the country.

In the autumn the children again saw the Angel as they were out looking after the sheep. He appeared before them holding a chalice in his hands, above which was suspended a host from which drops of blood were falling into the chalice. The Angel left the chalice suspended in the air and prostrated himself before it in prayer.

He then gave the host to Lucia to eat, and let Francisco and Jacinta drink from the chalice whilst saying: “Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men. Repair their crimes and console your God.” Then he prostrated himself again in prayer before disappearing. The children did not tell anyone about these visits of the Angel, feeling an interior necessity of keeping quiet about these events.

13 May 1917

On 13 May 1917 the three children took their flocks out to pasture on the small area known as the Cova da Iria. After lunch and the rosary they suddenly saw a bright flash of something like lightning, followed quickly by another flash in the clear blue sky.

They looked up to see in Lucia’s words, “a lady, clothed in white, brighter than the sun, radiating a light more clear and intense than a crystal cup filled with sparkling water, lit by burning sunlight.” The children stood there amazed, bathed in the light that surrounded the apparition, as the Lady smiled and said: “Do not be afraid, I will not harm you.” Lucia as the oldest asked her where she came from.

The Lady pointed to the sky and said: “I come from heaven.” Lucia then asked her what she wanted: “I have come to ask you to come here for six months on the 13th day of the month, at this same hour. Later I shall say who I am and what I desire. And I shall return here yet a seventh time.”

Lucia then asked if they would go to heaven and she was told yes, she and Jacinta would go to heaven, but Francisco would need to say many rosaries first. The Lady then said: “Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the conversion of sinners?” Lucia as spokesman for all three readily agreed: “Then you are going to have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your comfort.”

Lucia recounted that at the same moment as she said these words the Lady opened her hands and streamed a “light” on the children which allowed them to see themselves in God. The Lady finished with a request: “Say the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and the end of the war.” With that she began to rise into the air, moving towards the east until she disappeared.

Sounds like an assumption to me. No baby Jesus at all apparition and not always the same. You’ll have to “factually” prove this, instead of stating its so because you said so?

Gary, your last paragraph…is this for the OP, or another person who posted?

Is Medjugorje the only supposed apparition site where they say she has blue eyes?

Well let me explain I’m not using Medjugorje as any shining example. Its just a fact a recent book release which states “Blue Eyes”.

But if I’m correct in my understanding of this post, then “all” the apparitions of the BVM have appeared the same hair color, eye color, etc.

Honestly I have studied Fatima and Zeitoun in depth. But this also isn’t the impression I have been under as to consistant appearance.

For example…in Knock we have the BVM appearing as an Adult, and many of the other apparitions as a 12-13 yo child/pre-teen. At some of the apparotions She appeared with the baby Jesus. At others as I’ve shown above at the start of Fatima this isn’t so.

She has spoke the native language in each country where she has appeared. And apparently the eye color has been different also. While we can say the “Tilma” in Mexico is not an apparition. It is a Miracle which was originally a bouque of Roses which by miracle turned into a picture of the BVM with Blue eye and the refection of those she was looking at in Her eyes. Of course you seen what I posted on Medjugorje which regardless how we feel about it is contrary to the original statement.

Many of the apparitions make no referrence as to Hair or Eye color. As the BVM would at all times have Her hair covered.

Another reality to consider is the only one who would have an accurate idea and exact replica would be LUKE who painted the Bleck Madonna, of course with the Baby Jesus also in Her arms. Nonetheless if we are gauge what is to be more than likely the most authentic, its safe to say this would be original painting by Luke, on the table Jesus built as youth under guidance of His carpenter Father Joseph. The table top was used for the painting.

This was painted from sitting in front of and talking with Mary which also led to the scriture of Luke. All the rest are apparitions which we have the word of those who is essense are out time with reality of when Mary lived. So they are a refection of how Mary desired to appear through the Holy Spirit. That is to believe if you accept Marys appearences are the will of the Holy Spirit. Another concept which I’ve come to believe.

BTW I have no problem if Mary has Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, or should there be a difference, I just don’t see this as determining factor with my faith. I’m positive when we leave this physical world there with be no racial, ethnic, social barriers. Matter of fact I’m sure to understand the message of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, the idea of taking the God of Israel “the Father” beyond Israel was to overcome these very barriers which we are talking about. And ultimately limit man to this very day.

So no I have no major feelings in this one way or the other. Honestly my favorite paintings in my home are of the Black Madonna and I find them most beautiful. I’ve used that photo as Mass cards for various family members also as they have passed.

But I haven’t see conclusive evidence to the contrary of Mary appearing the same always. When the Miracle of Sun occured, although no-one but Lucy was able to see the apparitions. The Blessed Mother appeared their alone in different forms? And also with the Holy Family, Joseph/Jesus

But as I admit not all of her apparitions have I done an in-depth study into, though I have read through all of them. The two I mentioned I have extensively re-searched. Most are very inconclusive as to eye/hair color. The other I mentioned of Mt Carmel specifically mentions reddish hair, I see you disagree. So then there must also be a difference as to which sight is used for re-search. I alwasy use catholic sights, or sights which are researched by catholics. Could their be error? Of course there could. Some of these are centurys old now.

Its not really a big issues to me but I fail to see how this can proven. Even the catholic Church has mentioned that Mary seem to appear in a acceptable appearence to the culture where she is appearing.

I have no bone of contention. But you also have to be carefull of what sights your referring to and if they are some lose, fast intepretation promoting a false idea. Which many fast google sights, You-Tube, Movies etc often do.

What I;m saying is where is theactual proof? Obviously a few lines bee stated by the OP with no actual referrence to where they can from. I supplied two. One from the recent book released on Medjugorje and the other from the actual re-search Fatima. which is published. The info of the re-search of the Tima is also vast and very in-depth and scientific at this point.

Anyway I find the topic interesting and would love to see how it resolves. I have no preferrence one way or to the other as how I would like it see it resolved. To me its a foregone conclusion Mary wa born in the OT period, so here ethnic appearence in real life I’m totally convinced would coincide with the Black Madonna. Maybe not as dark from cenrurys of candle smoke in veneration, and fading and re-finishing. But I would say that the best we have to authentic.

But I’m not convinced to cocnsistancy of appearence in apparitions, very much on the contrary.

The actual appearence of the BVM isn’t what facinates me. I fine that God opened a window in Real Time once again, just as He did in the time of Abraham. To once again see if there are a few rightous men among us which can be counted. The overall victory is my concern. In Fatima for example 250 G appeared last May 10th. So we can say, through the victorys of the BVM may be quiet, nonelessless are very real. Through all the obstacles of this physical world, many, you can say, thanks to the BVM have regained their vision ability to see God. To me this is the REAL VICTORY.

No, because what is the Blessed Virgin’s most important role.
The miraculous birth of Jesus through the immaculate conception.

First off your downplaying the purpose of the Blessed Mother not on only in History and Revelations and as defined by the Catholic Church, But I fail to see how this relates to the OP?

The Word became Flesh through Mary has been much further defined through Catholic Dogma, and Doctrines. This statment actaully upholds Sola Scriptura Protestant theology and is seriously lacking . Maybe I’m missing something?

Please explain?

The fact that she and Jesus appear at different ages doesn’t bother me because they are outside of “time”. Anyone know anything about String Theory?

Gary, do you have a link for the Black Madonna?

Yes here it is, The way the painting usually appears is second to the right. The story is the same basic story line I have in the boigraphys here.

Very old for sure.
